Video: Here's how Mizzou improves recovery after practice

Getting some time in the weight room after practice is something that nearly every successful team in the country does a few days a week. Each coach's philosophy and approach may be different, but the goal of improving (or at the very least, maintaining during the season) strength and developing a mental and physical edge remains the same across the board.

At Missouri, the strength staff's focus during a weight room session after practice is based on recovery.

"We're thinking about recovery. They just worked really hard, so we're thinking about the next practice and what can we do to maintain all of the work that's been done to help turn them around mentally, physically, and physiologically for the next practice." Pat Ivey, Missouri's associate AD for athletic performance, explains in the clip.

"The faster, and more you can get the blood to circulate, the more nutrients that can get to the muscle and the faster the muscle recovers."
