Video: Unlikely 99 yard field goal return wins game for HS program

Detroit Catholic Central HS (MI), long regarded as one of the strongest programs in the state of Michigan (11 time state champs), beat De La Salle Collegiate (MI) last Friday in one of the most unlikely ways imaginable.

On the final play of regulation, with the game tied up at 14, De La Salle lined up for a 57 yard field goal. The kicker took a good punch at it, making it down to the one yard line where DCC had a return man lined up.

The field goal unit didn't cover the kick downfield, and the result was a 99 yard field goal return for the winning touchdown (20-14).

Just a friendly coaching reminder on long field goal attempts: After securing their gap and hearing the "thump" of the kick, tell your guys to cover downfield to avoid situations like this.
