The Scoop on Steve Addazio to Boston College

Boston College announced today that it has hired Temple head coach Steve Addazio to the same position.

Addazio is a New England native, hailing from Farmington, Conn. He started four years on the offensive and defensive lines at Central Connecticut State and started his coaching career at Western Connecticut State. He then moved to Cheshire (Conn.) High School before coaching the offensive line at Syracuse (1995-98), Notre Dame (1999-01), Indiana (2002-04) and Florida (2005-10). He also held special teams coordinator responsibility at Notre Dame and spent one season as the offensive coordinator at Indiana and his last two years at Florida in that role.

Addazio went 9-3 in his debut season at Temple before falling back to 4-7 this fall. At Boston College, he inherits a program that made a dozen straight bowl games from 1999-2010 before falling back to 4-8 and 2-10 seasons under Frank Spaziani in 2011 and 2012.

Boston College is banking that Addazio's offensive background, New England roots and ties to Florida will improve a Boston College offense that ranked 97th in total offense, 109th in scoring offense, 115th in rushing offense and 99th in passing efficiency this season.

After announcing the hire, Boston College athletic director Brad Bates immediately shared what sold him on Addazio on his Twitter account:
