New alternate helmets displayed at Nevada, Texas Tech and Fresno State
A handful of new uniforms and alternate helmets have hit the Internet in the past couple of days, which to a uni-obsessed fan like me is like manna and a tub of ice water in the middle of the Sahara.
However, we must remember what time of year it is. With National Signing Day just eight days out, the looks shown below could easily just be prototypes used to wow visiting recruits. Just because a new helmet shows up in the equipment room doesn't mean we'll see it on the field this fall.
With that said, let's take a look.
Nevada has gone with a blue helmet and silver wolf for a decade, but we could be seeing a gray and white alternate on the way.

Texas Tech has rolled largely with a red "Double T" on a solid black helmet since 1993. Could we be seeing a white and/or striped alternate with new head coach Kliff Kingsbury?

Fresno State has donned red lids for the better part of the program's history. This white alternate leaked online in the past week.

Meanwhile, a small tweak has leaked at Florida. The Gators have longed employed a relatively small number font, but their numbers could be getting significantly larger in 2013.

Western Michigan is officially getting new helmets, which we posted on Friday. And, once again, none of the above alternates were officially released by the university and, as such, it's far from guaranteed that we'll ever see these on the field. But that doesn't mean we can't take a peek.
