Charlie Strong on Miami speculation: "It's all a rumor." (Featured)

There are two ways to deny a rumor in the coaching world: an emphatic, pound-the-podium denial, or wait it out until the passage of time proves it untrue.

Charlie Strong has opted for choice B.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Strong addressed rumors he'd bolt from Texas to Miami after two years by saying, "It's all a rumor. We're here to build a program.

"I don’t know where it surfaces from. The thing I’ve got to do is just continue to work here and get this done."

To be clear, Strong spoke Wednesday like a coach intent on completing his rebuild of the Texas football program, and Chip Brown wrote Wednesday morning UT president Gregory Fenves and interim AD Mike Perrin want him back in 2016 regardless if the Longhorns' 4-6 record turns into a 4-8 finish. But Strong himself didn't definitively say he'll be back next season.

Just because he didn't issue the strongest possible denial doesn't mean he's leaving. But it won't be enough to dismiss the rumors.

For clarity sake, coaches if you want to end the speculation that you might take another job, when you have a press conference in front of the cameras, simply say, "I will not even consider any other job. I'm very happy here and am not leaving." If you don't say that, people assume you chose not to say that for a reason...like you probably did.
