It's a bit of an awkward thing, a coach walking past an immortalized version of himself on his way to work every day. One has to imagine it feels a bit like maneuvering past your own headstone while mowing your backyard.
But much like funerals, statues aren't for the person they're honoring -- they're for all the people that person has touched.
On Saturday, Gary Patterson joined a small group of active coaches with their own statues. That group consists of Nick Saban....

..... Bill Snyder (Kansas State's stadium is also named after Snyder and, let's be honest, that still doesn't accurately capture The Wizard's impact on K-State football)

.... Bob Stoops (though his statue is currently acquiring dust somewhere after its subject vehemently objected to its creation)

.... and Patterson.
Patterson's statue is joined by two-time national champion coach Dutch Meyer and Heisman Trophy winner Davey O'Brien.
Patterson's crossed arms pose is the most flattering option, but we can all agree the most accurate would have been one of the coach pulling his belt loops or tying his shoes.
