Last night, while scrolling through Twitter before heading to bed, I came across this tweet, and it may be the best quote about high school football I have ever seen.

That right there may be the realest quote on football of all time...and it comes from the lips of the chairman of an English department at a high school in Brooklyn of all people. The late Dorothy Farnan got it. Unlike Math or Science, there are no shortcuts in football to get to the desired outcome. Football is all about hard work and the sweat equity that you put into it, and many of its lessons aren't fully realized until years after you've handed in your pads for the last time.
Football always has, and always will have its fair share of pundits and critics, but it's refreshing to see the someone in a position like like Ms. Farnan come out in support of a game that is so often under attack. Is she right? Since most high school football coaches are also teachers, I'm interested to see where coaches stand on this. Let me know @CoachSamz or at doug@footballscoop.com.
Update> This is cool. Original location of the sign has been identified.
@FootballScoop guys that sign you have on your web is from outside my office in Gold Beach, Oregon. It was taken by @CoachFore during camp.
