Yesterday, sources told FootballScoop that Sun Belt would be dropping Idaho and New Mexico State. Shortly thereafter, the conference confirmed the news, noting that following the 2017 season, the league will move to a 10-team model.
With that certainly on their mind, Idaho released this strong spring training video entitled You Will Never See Us Coming and the timing is ominous.
In his first two seasons leading the program, Paul Petrino and the Vandals recorded just one win each season, but last year they made the jump to 4-8 with wins over Wofford, Troy, ULM, and Texas State to end the season.
Spurned by the league, Petrino and Vandals now have some additional motivation these next two seasons to build on that four-win finish in 2015. Winning the league with the clock ticking on their membership will certainly be difficult, but if this video is any indication, Idaho will be playing with a giant chip on their shoulder for the foreseeable future.
“You know who we are, but you don’t know what we’re capable of…and you’ll never see us coming,” the video states as it fades to black
