John Thompson has resigned as Texas State's defensive coordinator, sources told FootballScoop Sunday evening. Sources also indicated the move was Thompson's call.
A highly-regarded coaching veteran, Thompson arrived in San Marcos from Arkansas State in 2014; he also holds coordinator experience at Ole Miss, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Southern Miss, and Northwestern State along with a two-year stint at East Carolina's head coach.
Texas State is off to a 1-3 start this season after falling 59-14 to Houston on Saturday.
There is no word yet on who will replace Thompson as Texas State's defensive coordinator. Stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
