John Thompson resigns as Texas State defensive coordinator (Featured)

John Thompson has resigned as Texas State's defensive coordinator, sources told FootballScoop Sunday evening. Sources also indicated the move was Thompson's call.

A highly-regarded coaching veteran, Thompson arrived in San Marcos from Arkansas State in 2014; he also holds coordinator experience at Ole Miss, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Southern Miss, and Northwestern State along with a two-year stint at East Carolina's head coach.

Texas State is off to a 1-3 start this season after falling 59-14 to Houston on Saturday.

There is no word yet on who will replace Thompson as Texas State's defensive coordinator. Stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
