Arkansas did a very neat thing earlier this month when it logged and published every trip head coach Bret Bielema made during recruiting season.
The Hogs went even deeper this time, chronicling each and every Razorback signee since 1963. That's 1,499 players in all -- categorized by zip code, high school, decade, head coach and conference.
Unsurprisingly, the largest chunk comes from Arkansas, followed by Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Missouri. The most fertile metro areas are Little Rock, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, New Orleans, Birmingham, Atlanta, Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Atlanta, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
But, the Arkansas notes, the passage of time tells the most interesting story. Most every Razorback hailed from Arkansas and the neighboring states through the 1970's, but as cable television explodes and more college football games get on television, more players start heading to Fayetteville from the coasts. Heck, Bielema even signed an offensive lineman from Hawaii in 2013.
Here are Arkansas' signing maps broken down by offense, defense and head coach.
Go ahead, pull out your fork and knife and chew into this data. We wish more programs would do this.
