The Cincinnati Bengals have won 40 games over the last four regular seasons, which is a pretty impressive feat for any NFL franchise not named Seattle or New England.
However, the Bengals have been bounced in the first round of the playoffs for four straight seasons, which prompted Marvin Lewis to encourage his staff look inward and evaluate how they’re doing things within the organization. The re-evaluation has led to new “Bengals Revival T-shirts,” the addition of a dining room, a new-look players lounge and an expanded weight room.
“I told the coaches after last season, ‘We gotta find a different way.’ Our way’s not good enough. We gotta find a different way.” Lewis told NFL.com.
“And we gotta push all the time. I think the guys have done a good job, the players have done a nice job of responding to that. They know that. They know that here is not where we want to be. We want to end up at the top.”
“Every step, the organization has done a great job in putting the guys in position to do these things. Now we’ve gotta capitalize on it and get it done.”
Lewis is the second longest tenured NFL head coach, behind only New England’s Bill Belichick, so if he can re-evaluate how him and his staff are approaching things to gain an edge, you and your staff could probably benefit from doing the same.
