Matt Lindsey – University of South Carolina

FootballScoop is proud to announce that Matt Lindsey is the 2018 FootballScoop Player Personnel Director of the Year presented by AstroTurf as selected by prior winners.

Ever since he was hired shortly after Signing Day in 2017, Lindsey’s been tasked with overseeing the stem-to-stern recruiting operation of an SEC program looking to make the leap from good to great in the most competitive recruiting environment in the sport.

As director of player personnel, Lindsey is directed with everything from identifying the student-athletes Gamecocks coaches will recruit, to assisting with the program’s camps and clinics, to overseeing all of the program’s recruiting services and videos.

In two seasons on campus, Lindsey has helped the South Carolina sign the No. 18 class of 2018 according to 247Sports and, as of press time, the No. 21 class of 2019.

He was also named a member of 247’s “30 Under 30” in 2017.

A Tuscaloosa, Ala., native, Lindsey got an up-close education in how to run a best-in-class recruiting operation while working as an undergraduate in Alabama’s recruiting operations for the Crimson Tide’s 2009, 2011 and 2012 national championship teams. Upon graduation, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles’ recruiting operation as a scouting assistant in 2013 and was eventually promoted to the club’s college scouting coordinator before his return to the college game.

Previous winners of the Player Personnel Director of the Year award are Tyler Siskey (Alabama, 2013), Mark Pantoni (Ohio State, 2014), Austin Thomas (LSU, 2015), Jody Wright (Alabama, 2016), Marshall Malchow (Georgia, 2017).
