Mike Gundy is the first head coach to launch his very own app

Earlier this summer, Mike Gundy had a conversation with some people in-house at Oklahoma State about how they could "up the digital ante in college sports" according to piece in SI today.

What they came up with is the first "head coaching app" that is aimed at connecting recruits and fans with Gundy directly.

SI explains exactly what that entails.

"Coach Gundy felt like we had an opportunity to be one of the first programs to have a head coaching app,” said Chris Deal, OSU’s director of football creative services. “There’s an ‘Ask Gundy’ option within the app, so we’ve given it a personal touch. It’s also a great way for recruits and fans to connect with coach but also the Cowboy football program. We felt like it was a win-win to promote the program.”

The app also includes a photo gallery of Gundy, a "Nike Swag" section, a Question and Answer section, information on his annual football camp, and direct links for prospective students and recruits to apply and information on how walk-ons can join the program. Gundy and a digital team are working on developing a feature on the app that will highlight OK State players now in the NFL, All Americans, game notes, and links to the social media accounts of his staffers. Real time game stats are also being worked on being added.

They've really thought everything through with the app, and more is definitely on the way. In the first 24 hours after it's launch, the app had already received 5,000 downloads.

The app is available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Hopefully this opens the door for apps featuring Les Miles, Jim Harbaugh Mike Leach, and the rest of college football's most entertaining personalities.
