Missouri defensive coordinator Barry Odom has been named head coach of the Tigers (Top)

Missouri has announced that Barry Odom will be the Tigers new head coach.

This marks Odom's first head coaching position and he also drew interest from Memphis (where he served as defensive coordinator from 2012-2014). Odom has a five-year deal according to a release from the school that should be approved next week, and financial details of the contract will be released after being approved by the Board of Curators, who meet next Thursday and Friday. Odom (a former Mizzou player himself) started his coaching career in at the high school level in Oklahoma before being named the head coach at Rock Bridge HS (Columbia, MO). From there, he joined the Missouri staff as an administrative graduate assistant before working his way into a director of football recruiting role, then to director of football operations, then to assistant athletic director / director of football operations. From there he joined the on the field staff in 2009, and by 2012 he was an FBS defensive coordinator at Memphis. If you're looking for a blueprint of a guy who worked his way in the profession the right way, look no further than Odom. Since word leaked, our phones have been blowing up with great things to be shared about Odom. The feedback we've received from those close to him in the coaching community has been nothing but positive.
