Randy Edsall doesn't seem to be a fan of DJ Durkin (Maryland)

Unlike most coaches, Randy Edsall is not afraid to say what he really thinks. After news of the FBI's investigation into college basketball broke, the Connecticut head coach used his Twitter account to speculate about possible issues coming to college football. (So far, they have not.) Earlier this season, Edsall squashed speculation about firing his defensive coordinator by saying, "If things aren't going the right way, then fire my ass."

And that brings us to this week's news of Maryland reinstating, then firing Maryland head coach DJ Durkin.

On Wednesday, after Durkin had been reinstated, Edsall retweeted Jay Bilas's message saying, "I no longer wish to hear NCAA administrators, commissioners, ADs and coaches lecture on integrity or athlete welfare as long as they stand silent in the wake of Maryland's Board of Regents' (sic) decision. The silence of NCAA leadership is deafening."

Of course, Maryland later reversed course and fired Durkin Wednesday evening.

On Thursday morning, Edsall treated his 21,000 followers to this Bill Belichick quote.

The Maryland board's argument for reinstating Durkin was that, yes, Jordan McNair died and strength coach Rick Court may have gone over the line at times, but it would be unfair to fire Durkin for those things.

Obviously, a swift and unanimous public flogging forced Maryland leadership to reconsider that stance.

There is a bit of a history between Edsall and Durkin. Edsall was fired as Maryland's head coach six games into the 2015 season, replaced later that year by Durkin. Players Edsall recruited are juniors and seniors on the Maryland roster today.

Edsall isn't a disinterested bystander in the Maryland scandal, and isn't afraid to share his true thoughts on the issue, or at least to let us discern his true thoughts through retweets and subtweets.

Safe to say, Durkin's next job isn't going to be on Randy Edsall's staff.
