#ScholarshipAlert: Notre Dame's first ever walk-on to earn captaincy is rewarded

Walk-on receiver Austin Webster has earned this.

As the first walk-on to ever earn the captaincy of his team at Notre Dame (per Brian Kelly), the senior receiver from Los Angeles has clearly earned the respect of his teammates and coaches. As Brian Kelly points out in the video below, Webster led his brothers through "January, February, March, April, May & June through the Summer as a SWAT team leader." Kelly added, "I don't know if there is anybody more deserving of earning a scholarship to Notre Dame and the first nameplate that goes up in this [new] locker room."

Listen to Webster's words after he is awarded the scholarship and you'll quickly see why he was chosen a captain & leader of this team.
