After Tennessee engaged in talks with Doeren, offering him the head coaching job last night, per reports, NC State came at him with a package to sweeten the pot to get him to stay.
I don’t know what the Tennessee numbers look like for Dave Doeren but @PackAthletics upped their offer to 5 years at 3 million per year w/ incentives. Currently earns 2.2 mill. Also an increase to salary pool for assistants.

That appears to be enough to enough to have convinced Doeren to stay as the leader of the Wolf Pack. Asked about why he’s decided to stay, Doeren offered the following to ESPN’s Andrea Adelson:
NC State coach Dave Doeren told me via text why he is staying put: "My family, my players, my recruits." The Wolfpack just finished their best regular season under Doeren, and posted their best ACC mark since 1994. https://t.co/KRM0TLvx4u

Doeren turning down the Vols means that an already messy search in Knoxville will have to move on to their next candidate.
