Sources tells FootballScoop Lane Kiffin’s defensive coordinator Tony Pecoraro will not return for 2019. This was Pecoraro’s first season at FAU following two years as defensive coordinator at Southern Miss. FAU’s scoring defense dropped from 34th last season to 94th this season.

Lane’s brother Chris served as defensive coordinator for 2017 before accepting the “pass rush specialist” coaching position for the San Francisco 49ers for this season.

Pecoraro is considered one of the good guys in the profession. Appears it just didn’t work out here.

Prior to serving as defensive coordinator at FAU this season, Pecoraro had the previous experience:

2016-17 – Southern Miss (Defensive Coordinator)
2012-15 – Alcorn State (Defensive Coordinator)
2010-11 – North Alabama (Defensive Coordinator)
2007-09 – Florida State (Defensive Quality Control)
2006 – Florida State (Assistant Coach/DL)
2004-05 – Webber International (Graduate Assistant)
2002-03 – Florida State (Student Assistant/Quarterbacks)
