Tennessee AD John Currie tried to hire Greg Schiano yesterday. As we know, that didn’t go well.
On Monday, Currie made his first public comments since his hiring of Schiano was killed through a statement released by Tennessee.
In the statement, Currie defended Schiano’s character and Tennessee’s vetting of him.
He also concludes the statement by stating that, yes, he intends to continue leading Tennessee’s search and hopes to introduce the new coach to the Big Orange masses “soon.”
There will be a lot of ripple effects from the events of Sunday, and the two most immediate ones are:
1) What will the market’s reaction to Sunday be?
2) Will Currie continue to lead the search?
Just asked a source familiar with the Tennessee search who might be offered next.
“Gotta see if Currie is still involved.” https://t.co/TUuJhweRq2….

Am told there's increasing pressure now from big-money #Vols boosters to force #Tennessee AD John Currie out in the wake of Sunday's news. UT source told me: "This is such a hot mess. Just when you think they’ve gotten out of the ditch. They’ve fallen into a much bigger one.”
