Wilkes: Wilkes University invites applicants for Assistant Coach Strength and Conditioning, a nine- month internship in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics beginning August 2018. The successful candidate is responsible for effectively assisting the head coach in directing and administering all aspects of the strength and conditioning program to serve twenty-one varsity sports and the campus community. Primary responsibilities are to provide instruction with an emphasis on safety; test and evaluate student athletes; maintain fitness records; perform scripted rehabilitation of student athletes under the direction of a certified athletic trainer; repair and maintain fitness center equipment and supervisor student work study staff. The individual must possess relevant experience in the field of strength and conditioning; have a strong sense of professionalism and communication skills; be willing to work independently evenings and weekends; be goal oriented; have the ability to inspire and motivate others and make a commitment to follow NCAA and conference rules. A Bachelor’s degree is required. CSCS or SCCC certification and/or experience at the high school or collegiate level is desirable. This internship includes a stipend and housing. West Georgia: University of West Georgia Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for 2 Graduate Assistant to start in the fall of 2018. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a movement science discipline. Must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at the University of West Georgia. Must maintain a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours in the fall or spring semester, or a minimum of 6 credit hours in the summer semester Preferred Qualifications: Collegiate athletic experience preferred, A certification or willingness to pursue certification in one the following: NSCA, CSCCa, or USAW, A working knowledge of the Olympic style movements. An understanding of bioenergetics and its relationship to training athletes. These positions will Assist in the day to day operations of the West Georgia Strength and Conditioning Complex. Assist with the execution of the strength and conditioning program for football. Planning and execution of the strength and conditioning program for assigned sports. Assist in the recruiting process as needed for assigned sports . Coordinate and monitor team workouts. Wisconsin: The University of Wisconsin Olympic Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer interns for Fall 2018. This is an UNPAID internship position with the potential for course credit for individuals currently enrolled in a degree seeking program. Internship start date for the Fall semester will be Monday August 3rd and will be completed on Friday December 14th or specified by assigned coach. Hours will be determined by facility and team needs but anticipate early mornings, late nights, weekends and possible holiday responsibilities. Qualifications: Currently pursuing, or a recent graduate of, an exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. Preferred qualification: 1-2 years’ of coaching experience within a collegiate strength and conditioning environment and NSCA, USAW or CSCCa certification(s). Individuals will gain knowledge and experience within a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Individuals will have the opportunity to work within one of our three Olympic weight rooms on campus. Assignments will be based on staffing needs and strengths of the prospective internship candidates. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of strength and conditioning related training programs for various sports, providing support for technological services, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities, and progression developmental opportunities throughout the internship program.
