Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Spring 2018 Strength and Conditioning Internships. These are UNPAID internships. These positions will run from approximately January 15th through early May.Interns will gain practical experience working with a multitude of teams, including the off-season training of football, at a Division 1/FBS member university. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: aiding in the implementation of training programs, assisting with set up and break down of equipment, daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, preferred certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design and exercise technique, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit. Fresno State: Fresno State University is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER intern coaches to contribute to the Program. Qualified candidates will work directly with Football, and will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an UNPAID opportunity that provides experience assisting the Football Strength and Conditioning Staff with the implementation of individualized, comprehensive, sport-specific injury prevention and performance enhancement programs. Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include current CPR/ AED certification, as well as achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study and CSCS or SCCC certification. This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, January 8 th 2018, and requires a 6-month time commitment. During this time period, interns will receive experience working at the Division 1 level, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. Shippensburg: Shippensburg University is currently seeking two to three qualified full time volunteer assistant candidates for the spring 2018 semester. The spring strength and conditioning program will run from January 15th (Start date flexible) to May 4th. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for football, basketball & various other Olympic sports, on floor coaching of student athletes, teaching student athletes safe and proper exercise technique, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and professional development throughout the semester. Volunteer Assistants will be assigned the lead of 2-3 sports teams based on prior experience. This is an unpaid position however, the volunteers assistants will gain hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education in program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities. Chosen candidates will also have the opportunity to complete the required internship hours for the CSCCa – SCCC under the mentorship of Robert Day. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, effective communication skills, Desire to make strength and conditioning into a professional career, Have attained a Bachelor’s degree not limited to but preferably in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field, First Aid, CPR & AED certified, Certified in at least one of the following: SCCC, CSCS, PES and/or USAW. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained a master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field, Previous coaching experience in a collegiate, professional or high school setting or competitive collegiate involvement, Pursuing or have attained other relevant certifications, Knowledge of sports nutrition. Yale: The Yale Football Sports Performance Staff is seeking qualified and hardworking individuals with a strong passion for College Football and Sport Performance, to fill Spring 2018 internship positions with the Yale Football Team and in the Varsity Weight-Room. These positions are unpaid, but provide valuable experience, and will begin around the second week of January 2018. Preferred candidates should be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in or related to the field of Exercise Science. An CSCCa- SCCC, NSCA-CSCS, or USAW Certification is preferred but not required. Weber State: Weber State Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for Three (3) UNPAID internship positions for the 2018 Spring Semester. Internship dates are from January 3rd – April 26th. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I Strength & Conditioning setting. REQUIREMENTS: CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; a desire to become an Strength and Conditioning professional, the ability maintain a flexible and demanding schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certifications; previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer data entry programs. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the Strength and Conditioning staff. Youngstown State: Youngstown State University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Spring of 2018. This is an unpaid position. Individuals will gain experience in a Division I collegiate strength & conditioning setting, as well as future recommendation for employment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the YSU team and other University Athletic Programs, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, current CPR/AED certification, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. All applicants should have, or be working towards an accredited certification (USAW, CSCS, or SCCC).
