UCF: The University of Central Florida Sports Performance department is now accepting applications for 2-3 open positions for the fall 2018 internship program starting August 20th and lasting to December 7th with the opportunity to continue into the spring semester. THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR OLYMPIC SPORTS ONLY. Selected individuals should expect to gain experience working with all Olympic sports at the University of Central Florida. Applicants should be highly motivated, eager to learn, and possess the desire to be involved with high-level collegiate athletics. Applicants should be working toward a degree in Exercise Science, or hold an undergraduate degree in the respective field and be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Accepted interns should expect early mornings, long days, and evening hours. The internship curriculum includes the opportunity to learn directly from the sports performance staff through team training sessions, as well as involvement in weekly staff meetings and intern education workshops designed to prepare interns for real life situations and to sit for the CSCS exam and/or the SCCC exam. You will be assigned to complete various different assignments. This is strictly a VOLUNTEER internship. There will be no monetary compensation for this position; however, selected individuals should expect to receive valuable experience with various Division 1 athletic programs. ULM: The University of Louisiana Monroe Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for a highly motivated, disciplined, and hardworking candidate to fill its open Assistant Strength and Conditioning position working with football and Olympic sports. The position will be assigned to multiple Olympic sports teams and be responsible for all strength and conditioning duties for assigned sports teams and will assist other sports as needed. The sports teams assigned will be based on the strengths of the candidate. Other responsibilities include but is not limited to general equipment upkeep, weight room sanitation, computer work, game day responsibilities, and assisting in the supplementation program.  This is a $12,000 a year position with no benefits/no housing. Candidates must possess and be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of program design, science of sports training, and nutrition. Candidates must also be certified through the NSCA, CSCCA, or USAW along with First Aid/CPR Certified. Potential candidates must have experience with college football and Olympic sports in order to be considered for this opportunity. This position will be filled ASAP, with a start date of August 1st. Georgia Southern: Georgia Southern University (Sun Belt) Football Strength and Conditioning Department is looking to fill three to four (3-4) Fall VOLUNTEER assistant positions.  Georgia Southern Football Strength and Conditioning is an approved mentor-ship for the SCCC Certification.  Interns who complete the mentor-ship requirements may receive endorsement for SCCC Certification.  All positions are unpaid (no monetary compensation).  To be in consideration for the position, the potential candidates must have their CPR/AED certification.  The successful candidates will assist with all daily duties as it pertains to Georgia Southern Strength and Conditioning including but not limited to: data tracking, data entry, supplementation, and any other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning.  The successful candidates will also partake in a weekly internship development course curriculum. Western Carolina: Western Carolina Athletic Performance is accepting applications for a newly added part-time position. The position is an 11-month position at $9 per hour for 40 hours a week. We are looking for candidates with a strong desire for a long-term career in strength and conditioning who also have strong communication skills, and are eager to work in a competitive atmosphere. This position is responsible for all strength and conditioning duties for assigned sport teams and will assist other sport teams as needed. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to general equipment upkeep, weight room sanitation, computer work, game day responsibilities, and assisting in the nutrition supplementation program. The applicant will work with the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance and all of their assigned sports which includes Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Track & Field, Volleyball, & Soccer as well as any other sports/duties assigned by the Director of Strength & Conditioning. This position will more than likely oversee Track & Field, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Tennis and Golf. Experience working with these teams is preferred. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and must have a current strength and conditioning certification from one of the following: CSCCa, NSCA, may also accept NASM-PES if the applicant is pursuing the CSCCa or CSCS. Must have a minimum of six months job experience in a college athletic strength and conditioning setting. CPR and AED certification is required. The applicant needs to have a strong background in programming strength, speed, agility, power, core, flexibility training and may be required to submit a program of the Director or Assistant Director’s choosing to give us an idea of your level of expertise. Upper Iowa: UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY is looking for volunteer interns for the upcoming fall semester. This is an UNPAID position with possibility for free housing. DURATION: August 27th, 2018 – December 14th, 2018. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of the Director of Strength and Conditioning intern will assist staff with the implementation of strength & conditioning programs for all of Upper Iowa University’s 17 athletic programs. Interns are expected to perform a variety of tasks that include: weight room/equipment up-keep and maintenance, pre-workout set-up, post-workout clean-up, supplement provision, research to enhance personal development and field related projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates need to have completed or be in the process of completing a degree in Exercise Science or a related field, have current CPR/AED & First Aid certification and MUST be working towards or currently certified with CSCCa or CSCS.
