Austin Peay: The Austin Peay State University Sports Performance Program is currently accepting applications for UNPAID summer internships to begin Sunday May 26th, 2019 and go through Friday, August 2nd, 2019. Applicants should have, or be working towards, a BA/BS in Exercise Science or a related field. Completion of this internship can fulfill credit hours towards a program degree and offer increased opportunities for advancement in the field of sports performance. Preferred qualifications include certification(s) from one or more of the following organizations: The CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. Preferred qualifications also include previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching basic weight room exercises. This position is responsible for assisting the sports performance staff with the implementation of the off-season program, set up and break down of all training sessions, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training division-I collegiate athletes. Mississippi State: Mississippi State University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Summer 2019 internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength and conditioning training programs for various sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities, use of technology/data analysis and professional development throughout the internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing NSCA-CSCS and/or CSCCa-SCCC certification(s). Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. You will gain experience as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Strength and Conditioning. Southern Utah: Southern Utah University is actively seeking applicants for 2-3 unpaid internship position working with Football for the Summer of 2019. This position will begin May 27th and will end July 30th. Internship responsibilities will vary and will include various duties. Hours will vary throughout the summer and will include early morning, and late afternoons. Interns in our program can expect to gain valuable hands on experience in areas such as program design, exercise instruction, plyometric, speed and agility techniques, conditioning, facility and athlete management. It is our goal to equip our interns with the skills needed to achieve a graduate assistant position at the conclusion of their time in our program. Our staff will take the time to mentor and develop interns within our program. We believe that an educated and well-trained staff will have a powerful and meaningful impact on our student athletes. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, played collegiate football, CSCS or CSCCA preferred but not needed. Must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning, possess an excellent work ethic and have the ability to take initiative and be pro-active. Previous weight room or athletic coaching experience preferred. Iowa State: Iowa State University Olympic Sports is currently accepting applications for internship positions for Summer 2019. Candidates will receive hands on experience working with a variety of Division I college athletes, assist with daily administrative and maintenance duties, receive professional development throughout the internship program, and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided; however academic credit can be obtained if applicable. Qualifications: Candidate must be enrolled in an institution of higher education or hold a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the NSCA, CSCCa and/or USAW; Candidate must hold a current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification; Candidates must have a strong work ethic and pay attention to detail; Candidates must have a strong desire to enter the field of collegiate strength and conditioning; Candidate must be able to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week.
