Louisiana State: Louisiana State University is currently accepting applications for 5 Fall 2018 volunteer internship positions.  Qualified candidates would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department as well as other Olympic sports. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the LSU Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the In-Season program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Participation in athletics is preferred. Other preferred qualifications include certification from an accredited organization, previous coaching experience, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements.  There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. USC: The University of Southern California – Strength and Conditioning Department, is currently seeking FULL TIME, UNPAID/VOLUNTEER, Strength & Conditioning Interns for the Fall Semester of 2018. The internship will begin on August 6th and conclude on December 14th, 2018. Interns and/or Volunteer Assistants will receive experience working at the Division 1/Pacific 12 Conference level (and college credit if applicable). Responsibilities include: assisting the USC Strength Staff in all aspects of Athletic Performance, daily administrative tasks and completion of an educational curriculum. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Punctuality and a strong work ethic. A degree in progress in an Exercise Science related field with a desire to pursue a career as a Colligate Strength and Conditioning Professional. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CSCS, CSCCA or USAW Credential, Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise science related field and experience working in a Sports Performance environment. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan Sports Performance is seeking highly motivated people to fill the Fall 2018 internship positions working with all 17 NCAA Division 1 sports teams. This internship will start September 10th, 2018 thru December 2018. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and MUST be CPR and First Aid certified. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting staff in the design and implementation of strength programs including set up and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, and ongoing professional development through the internship curriculum. Preferred Qualifications: Intense work ethic, and highly motivated. Experience working in a Strength or Sports Performance environment; currently hold or working towards a nationally- accredited strength and conditioning certification (SCCC or CSCS) PLEASE NOTE: These are non-paid volunteer position. San Jose State: San Jose State is looking for a Volunteer/Intern Athletic Performance Coach. Salary: No financial compensation will be provided. Position Description: San Jose State University is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of VOLUNTEER/INTERN in the Athletic Performance Department for Fall Term 2018. The capable candidates will have the opportunity to advance their competence while gaining valuable knowledge and experience in the field of Athletic Performance at a Division 1A institution. Responsibilities for the positions are: assist Athletic Performance staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all University, Mountain West Conference and NCAA regulations. Villanova: Villanova University is currently accepting applications for a volunteer football video/operations quality control position for Fall 2018. We are seeking candidates who are looking to gain experience working within a Division 1 football program. The position will assist with duties assigned by the Video Coordinator and Director of Football Operations. Primary duties will include filming practices and games as well as assisting with film and data breakdown. Candidates with strong communication and computer skills are preferred. This is a non-coaching position. Qualifications: (1) Must be have completed a Bachelor’s degree program; (2) Experience competing in intercollegiate athletics or (3) experience working in a collegiate football program. This position does not provide any stipend, benefits, or housing. However, volunteers will receive experience working in a Division I program, have the potential to earn a paid position, earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive internship credit, if applicable. Appalachian State (FCS): Appalachian State University Department of Athletics seeks highly motivated candidates for an Intern position to assist with implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for intercollegiate sports. Primary responsibility will be assisting staff with all Olympic Sports programs. A minimum of one year experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting is required. Experience with Olympic-style lifting, plyometric training and speed development is required. Successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills to teach/motivate a diverse population of student-athletes, interact with support staff and coaches. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in health/fitness, sport science or related field preferred. Candidate must be working toward certification from either the NSCA – CSCS certification examination and/or CSCCa – SCCC certification examination and have a current CPR and first aid certificate. This internship is for individuals who have the goal of being a collegiate strength & conditioning coach, others need not apply. Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience, earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, and college credit toward graduation if applicable.
