Shippensburg: Shippensburg University is currently seeking qualified volunteer internship candidates for the spring 2018 semester. The spring strength and conditioning program will run from January 15 (Start date flexible) to May 4. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for 20 DII varsity athletic teams including football and basketball, on floor coaching of student athletes, teaching student athletes safe and proper exercise technique, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and professional development throughout the semester. This is an unpaid position however, the volunteer interns will gain hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education in program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities and/or receive college credit if applicable. Chosen candidates will have the opportunity to complete the required 640 internship hours for the CSCCa – SCCC under the mentorship of Robert Day. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, Effective communication skills, Desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, First Aid, CPR & AED certified. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained a bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field, Previous coaching experience in a collegiate, professional or high school setting or competitive collegiate involvement, Pursuing or have attained relevant certifications: SCCC, CSCS, USAW, FMS, etc. It is strongly advised that all potential candidates make sure that this internship is economically feasible before applying. Missouri S&T: Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is currently offering a strength and conditioning internship. The internship will be for the duration of the Spring 2018 semester starting on January 8 th and ending May 4 th . This internship will be an educational opportunity including the completion of an internship curriculum along with potential for gaining experience working with a variety of teams, utilization of Excel for updating information, maintenance of a collegiate weight room, education in coaching techniques, etc. The selected candidate will receive close supervision in regard to the previous areas of possible experience. The primary goal of the internship will be to provide instruction and training in the field of collegiate strength & conditioning in order to prepare the intern for a career in this field. QUALIFICATIONS: 1) pursuit or possession of a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field; 2) CPR/AED certification; 3) strong desire to pursue a career in strength & conditioning at the collegiate level; 4) plans to take the CSCS or SCCC exams (or current CSCS or SCCC certification). Missouri Southern State: Missouri Southern State University Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently accepting applications for Spring 2018 Volunteer Interns. Start date will be January 10 th and end date will be May 7 th . Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for 12 Division II sports, set up and break down for daily training, and routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and attend staff meetings. Applicants should be working towards a degree in kinesiology or a related field and working to towards a CSCS or SCCC certification, as well as CPR/AED certified. This position is UNPAID, but applicants will receive value experience working with Division II athletes and a chance for future recommendations.
