Chicago Bears: Source tells FootballScoop Washington State head strength coach Jason Loscalzo will be the Bears new strength coach. Prior to these six seasons as head strength coach for Mike Leach at WSU, Loscalzo served in the same capacity at Boston College for five seasons. He had previously served as assistant strength coach and director of sports nutrition for Auburn football.
Florida State: Florida State Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for interns for Summer 2018. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: assist the Football Strength and Conditioning staff in the training of the Florida State University’s Division I football program; assist with daily administrative and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; spotting athletes; and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: must have a strong work-ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification.Candidates must email a letter of application, resume and the names of three references to Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach Joey Carnes [email protected].
Syracuse: Syracuse University Department of Athletic Performance for Football is accepting applications for a VOLUNTEER Intern Strength and Conditioning coach position for the Summer 2018 semester. This is an UNPAID volunteer position, but academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related degree program if applicable. The main responsibilities of this position will include: involvement in the supervision of safety during training sessions, assisting with daily administrative, maintenance items, and operations for Football. This position will provide: valuable practical experience working with Division 1 collegiate football student-athletes and coaches, an extensive professional development program, CSCS prep, and multiple opportunities to expand network connections within the profession. Qualifications: Seeking a college degree or completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and current CPR certification. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise related field and CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification. Evidence of project completion, consistent attention to detail, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment will be highly considered. All employees must comply fully with all NCAA, ACC (or other conference) and Syracuse University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Youngstown State: The Youngstown State University Football Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently seeking 2-3 qualified interns for the Summer of 2018. The position is UNPAID but has the OPPORTUNITY of becoming a Graduate Assistant position in the Fall 2018 semester. The internship will be very hands on. The candidate must be punctual with a great attention to detail and have a willingness to learn throughout the internship. REQUIREMENTS: Working towards or already obtained a bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field. Working towards or already obtained one of the following certifications: CSCS, CSCCa, or USAW. The internship position will begin around May 21 st . Virginia: The University of Virginia is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns for the 2018 Summer. Interns will work primarily with football. This is an unpaid internship. Responsibilities will include: Daily weight room maintenance, set-up, tear-down, assist with supervision of weight room and field work. Interns must be motivated, able to follow specific directions, and have a strong work ethic. Interns should be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree, and certifications through the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, or USAW. Interns will gain collegiate experience at the Division I level, and potential for future recommendations for future career opportunities.
