Catawba College (D-II Salisbury, NC): Catawba Strength & Conditioning is seeking applications for ONE PAID 2017-2018 Internship. The internship will be split into two four-month stints paid at $2,500 each for a total of $5,000 over eight months. You will be given the months of December and May off. Having a part time job around team scheduling is allowed. The first of the two will begin August 2nd, 2017 until November 30th, 2017. The second will begin January 2nd, 2018 until April 30th, 2018. Experience with Olympic Sports is preferred. The position will assist with Football and train a minimum of three teams, men and women, based on experience. Preferred applicants must be highly motivated, have a tremendous work ethic, and be interested in becoming a Strength/Performance Coach. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Strength Staff in all aspects of program administration. The position requires working directly with student athletes to teach proper lifting technique, assess and document progress of the student athletes during training, and maintain a clean, sanitized weight room. As an intern within Catawba Strength & Conditioning, you will follow an 11-week curriculum that allows you to learn how to: learn and teach proper lifting position and technique, research relevant training modalities, create exercise banks, develop training programs and manipulate those programs based on time of year, sport-specificity, exercise progression, training age, and available equipment. You will also be given monthly performance reviews to help you improve your abilities as a Strength Coach. All interns, if applicable, will have the opportunity for credit towards graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related major. A Nationally accredited certification, NSCA/CSCCa/USAW is required at the beginning of the internship, or you must show proof of exam test date. Interns MUST be CPR/AED certified. Yale: The Yale Sports Performance Staff is looking for qualified and hardworking Fall 2017 interns with a strong passion for strength and conditioning to work with the Yale Football Team and Men’s Lacrosse Team in the Varsity Weight-Room. These positions are unpaid, but provide valuable experience, and will begin the first week of August. Preferred candidates should be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in or related to the field of Exercise Science. This is an NSCA accredited internship site, thus, candidates must possess a certification or membership from the NSCA, or must be doing the internship for college class credit. Upon completion of the internship, the NSCA will award 2.0 CEUs to each candidate. A NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, USAW or certification and/or prior playing experience in college athletics is preferred but is not required. North Texas: The University of North Texas is searching for aspiring strength and conditioning coaches to fill volunteer mentorship coaching positions available for the 2017 FALL semester (8/28 – 12/15). Prospective mentorship candidates will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of the North Texas Strength and Conditioning staff, as well as gain invaluable hands-on experience working with Division I athletes (both Football and Olympic sports). Mentees will have the opportunity to participate in the UNT Strength and Conditioning Professional Development & Educational Curriculum. Please note, this is a voluntary position and there is no monetary compensation. Applicants should be committed to developing themselves as a strength and conditioning professional and devoted to working their way up in the strength and conditioning profession.
