Oregon State: With Evan Simon off to Davidson, source tells FootballScoop Micah Cloward has been promoted to interim head strength coach for football. Cloward, who is in his third year at Oregon State, previously served as an assistant at both Wisconsin and Utah State.

Davidson (FCS – NC): Oregon State head football strength coach Evan Simon has accepted the head strength & conditioning coach position for Davidson athletics, source tells FootballScoop. This will be Simon’s second stint at Davidson (previously served in similar capacity from 2004-06). Since leaving Davidson the first time, Simon has served as head football strength coach at Utah State, Wisconsin and Oregon State.

Yale: The Yale Football Sports Performance Staff is seeking qualified and hardworking individuals with a strong passion for College Football and Sport Performance, to fill Spring 2018 internship positions with the Yale Football Team and in the Varsity Weight-Room. These positions are unpaid, but provide valuable experience, and will begin around the second week of January 2018. Preferred candidates should be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in or related to the field of Exercise Science. An CSCCa- SCCC, NSCA-CSCS, or USAW Certification is preferred but not required. Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last from January 4 – April 27. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff. Interested candidates must submit:

  • Resume (one page maximum)
  • Three professional references*
  • A video (3:00 maximum) answering:
    • Why do you coach?
    • Why do you coach the way you coach?
    • What does it feel like to be coached by you?
    • Define success.
