Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for 23 Varsity Sports. Interns will assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep. Interns may also earn the opportunity to be responsible for the design and implementation of programs for 1-2 teams. Husson (ME): Husson University Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for a Fall Strength and Conditioning Volunteer. This is an unpaid position. Start date: October 13th; End Date: December 19th. Volunteer responsibilities include: Assisting with implementation of strength and conditioning programs at Husson University; Assisting with daily operations and facility/equipment maintenance; Effective set up and take down of strength and conditioning facilities for all programs at Husson University. Volunteer qualifications include: CPR/First Aid and AED certification; Experience in athletics or athletic preparation; Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Preferred qualifications include: Junior or Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; NSCA CSCS or equivalent; and a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan University Sports Performance is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Winter 2015 semester. The internship will begin Monday January 5th- Monday April 20th 2015. This is an unpaid internship, however this is a great opportunity to gain experience. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of Eastern Michigan University’s 21 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties. You will have educational opportunities through Coach Ron Mckeefery’s internship curriculum. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Having a background in performing and coaching Olympic lifts is preferred.
