Maryland: The University of Maryland Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Staff is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for a Strength and Conditioning Internship opportunity for the Fall 2015 semester. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff with all aspects of the athletic performance program as well as daily maintenance of weight room and facilities. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Candidates who will be receiving course credit will be given preference. This is an unpaid position, living and transportation arrangements will not be provided. If chosen for this internship opportunity you will receive division 1 experience at a major university in an elite conference, you will be educated on training philosophy, olympic lifting modalities, and how to structure and execute a successful strength and conditioning program. Preferred qualifications; Candidates should have or be working towards attaining their bachelor’s degree, and one or more of the following certifications; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW. Northeastern Oklahoma (JC – Miami, OK): NEO is looking to fill a head strength coach / defensive assistant position. Mercer (FCS – GA): Mercer University, a Division I FCS member of the Southern Conference, is currently accepting applications for UNPAID Fall 2015 Strength Coach positions. The start date is August 3rd, 2015. These positions are UNPAID, if this is not an economically viable situation for you please do not apply. Duties will include assisting with all aspects of the Mercer University Football Strength program as well as work with other teams as assigned. Individuals chosen to join the Strength staff will be given the opportunity to COACH ON THE WEIGHTROOM FLOOR; this is not an observational role. Required qualifications include; Reliability, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and the ability to volunteer a minimum of 25 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include; Bachelor’s degree, SCCC and/or CSCS certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, experience working with Strength & Conditioning programs at the collegiate level. Boise State: The Boise State University Sports Performance Department is seeking highly motivated candidates to fulfill an UNPAID Fall 2015 internship position with Olympic Sports. Interns can expect to gain valuable, hands on experience in areas such as program design, exercise instruction, plyometric, speed and agility techniques, conditioning, facility and athlete management. Internship responsibilities will vary and will include duties within the BSU Sports Performance Department. Hours will include early mornings, late evening, or weekend hours. The internship may fulfill course credit, if necessary. Qualifications: Currently pursuing Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Pitt: The University of Pittsburgh’s Olympic Sports Strength and Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer interns for the Fall 2015 semester. Daily responsibilities include: assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and fields for conditioning workouts; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and all of its equipment; assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self motivated, able to follow directions, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic. The Successful applicants should be working towards earning their Bachelor’s degree and a certification from the NSCA- CSCS, CSCCA, USAW and/or have experience as a collegiate athlete. Interns must be CPR/AED certified. This is an unpaid position, however, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Tulane: The Tulane University Department of Strength and Conditioning is currently seeking two qualified candidates to fill internship positions for the Fall of 2015. Candidates must possess loyalty, a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the profession, strong work ethic, dedication, the desire to gain knowledge, and a team oriented mindset. Job duties will include (1.) assisting primarily with the daily operations of the football strength and conditioning program along with Olympic sports as assigned, (2.) facility maintenance and upkeep, (3.) equipment set up and break down for all training sessions, and (4.) participation in staff and professional development opportunities. This is an unpaid internship with an expected commitment which begins Monday, August 17, 2015 and ends Friday, December 4, 2015.
