West Alabama: The University of West Alabama is currently accepting applications for SUMMER 2017 volunteer internship positions. These are positions for the summer 2017 training session, May 22nd – August 4th, with the opportunity to carry over into the fall semester. UWA is a member of the Gulf South Conference at the NCAA Division II level. This is an UNPAID position. However the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program, and fulfillment of credit hours for the internship portion of the SCCC (CSCCa) certification under mentor Joseph Boyd. The position is responsible for assisting the strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of the summer program for the sport of football, set up and break down of all training sessions, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include either currently pursuing or possessing certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Northern Michigan: Northern Michigan University is currently accepting applications for the summer of 2017 internship positions. This is an UNPAID position. This position could lead to a recommendation for advancement in the field of Strength and Conditioning or towards class credits. The selected candidates will receive experience working with NCAA DI Hockey and NCAA Division II Football and Basketball.  The position is responsible for assisting the strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of the summer program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic.
