Texas A&M Commerce (D-II): The Department of Sports Performance at Texas A&M University – Commerce (Division II) has vacancies for Volunteer Sports Performance Interns for Olympic Sports and Football. These are unpaid positions. Potential interns will gain exposure and experience with all aspects of training by working directly with the Senior Director of Sports Performance & the Director of Sports Performance. Interns will have the opportunity to learn and coach athletes with the guidance needed to be successful in the field of strength and conditioning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Bachelor’s degree (Exercise Sciences or related fields). Candidates must also have extensive knowledge and coaching experience with Olympic-style lifting exercises. Current CPR & AED certification. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – current CSCCa or NSCA Coaching Certifications or the active pursuit of the CSCCa or NSCA Coaching Certifications. North Carolina Central: The Sports Performance Department at North Carolina Central University is accepting applications for internship positions for the Fall 2019 semester. This is an UNPAID internship; this volunteer position offers Division I experience and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Candidates will COACH, and will have a chance to serve as top assistants for select varsity sports. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Must be working towards a degree in the field of exercise science or similar. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing SCCC, CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. Colorado State: The CSU Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for up to 5 VOLUNTEER intern positions for the FALL 2019 semester. These are UNPAID positions. The ideal candidate should be seeking a career as a strength and conditioning coach. Candidates will be exposed to all facets of an NCAA Division 1 FBS football strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hands on experience assisting with the daily operations of the weight room, assisting with GPS monitoring and velocity based training technologies, helping to create a positive training environment, completing the educational curriculum, assisting with distribution of nutritional supplements under the guidance of a registered dietitian and strength and conditioning staff, record keeping and facility and equipment maintenance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS include completion or pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, strong work ethic, great sense of urgency, high attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to build relationships with our staff and student-athletes. Individuals must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse community. Candidates should be actively pursuing certification from the NSCA and/or CSCCa. Austin Peay (FCS – TN): Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN is seeking to fill a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance position that will begin in August of 2019. Candidates must have a strong desire to become a full-time Sports Performance coach, and must posses strong qualities of passion, leadership, and integrity. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting with football sports performance, the design and implementation of sports performance programs for other assigned sports, weight room supervision and upkeep, daily communication with sport coaches and athletic trainers, and other duties assigned. Required: previous coaching experience, CPR/AED & First Aid Certification, Bachelor’s degree in an exercise related field with a GPA of 3.0 or above, and GRE scores of 140 on Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning and a 2.5 on Analytical Writing. Miami (OH): Miami University Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for 3-4 Football and Olympic intern positions during Fall 2019. Positions require a 15-week commitment with an internship curriculum provided. Candidates will gain valuable experience training athletes, earn class credit, and earn a potential recommendation for further positions in the field. Pay: UNPAID VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP. Housing: No housing provided. Must find within Oxford, Hamilton, or other nearby cities. Start Date: Monday, August 26, 2019. End Date: Friday, December 6, 2019. Qualifications: Must possess a First Aid/AED Certification. Possess or working towards a CSCS or CSCCa certification. FIU: Florida International University is accepting applications for the position of Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach for Fall 2019. University of Lynchburg: University of Lynchburg (VA) is currently seeking applicants for a 10-month limit earnings Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Gameday Management position. This person will directly report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and Athletic Director. Duties include, but are not limited to: design and implementation of all aspects of year-round strength and conditioning programs for designated teams, implementation of recovery, sleep, nutritional education, conducting/attending meetings and consistent communication with sports coaches and athletic training staff, assist in the daily operations and management of Wake Field House, and gameday operational duties as assigned. St. Joseph’s (FCS – PA): The Saint Joseph’s University Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department will be accepting applications for 2 volunteer internships for the 2019-2020 school year. This internship is unpaid. The tentative start date will be 8/19. Duties and responsibilities will include, assisting the strength staff with set up and supervision and break down of all training sessions. Nutrition distribution and facility upkeep. Candidates should have a degree in Exercise Science and CPR/AED certification. While there is no monetary compensation, qualified candidates will have the opportunity attend the CSCCa National Conference in May with the strength staff including all fees associated with the test and trip. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions for the Fall 2019 semester. The internship is a comprehensive experience providing hands on education in the weight room, with a classroom component, including lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. The internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with the Football team that has just won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. The team also had multiple All-Americans, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and numerous other individual awards in the 2018 season. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. There is no monetary compensation for the internship, but there is the opportunity to use this internship as a site for the completion of college requirements. The internship is also an NSCA accredited continuing education site. You will receive 2 CEU’s for participating in the internship. The ideal candidate will be a current college student, or one who has recently graduated. Rocky Mountain College: Rocky Mountain College Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for paid internship position for the 2019 Fall semester. Responsibilities will include: assisting the Football Strength and Conditioning staff in the supervision and training of the Rocky Mountain College football team to include but are not limited to assisting the athletic performance staff with the set-up, breakdown and implementation of all training sessions; daily upkeep and maintenance of weight room equipment; assist with daily administrative tasks and any other duties assigned by the intern coordinator. This internship will start July 24, 2019 through December 2019. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and MUST be CPR and First Aid certified. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting staff in the design and implementation of strength programs including set up and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, and ongoing professional development through the internship curriculum. Preferred Qualifications: Strong work ethic, and highly motivated.
