Houston: The University of Houston Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for the position of (2) Graduate Assistants. Intended start date is March 1, 2017. Graduate School and classes will not begin until August 2017 (Must be able to be accepted into a Graduate Program prior to the start date), but the monthly stipend will begin immediately. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: Assist with Football and 1 Olympic program, design and implement training programs, teach and demonstrate lifts/drills, and assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the performance facility. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required as well as working towards or already obtained certification from the CSCCa or NSCA (will pay for NSCA certification if not currently certified). Possess CPR/AED and First Aid certification. The applicants must have prior experience working for a collegiate strength and conditioning program and have collegiate athletic experience. Must be able to enter graduate program with no provisions. Youngstown State: Youngstown State Strength and Conditioning is currently looking for highly motivated volunteer intern coaches for the Spring/Summer Semester. This position will work directly with the YSU Football team that played a historic 16 game season and went to the National Championship, as well as assist the Olympic Sports teams as needed. This is an unpaid position so candidates MUST be passionate for the field and demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in the field of Strength and Conditioning. There is a strong possibility of a GA position starting in July. This internship includes assisting in all aspects of training in compliance with NCAA regulations, daily maintenance of the facility, daily set up and breakdown of the workouts, educational development and professional development with the full-time staff. To qualify, candidates should have or be working towards attaining their bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and have or be working towards attaining one of the following certifications: CSCS, SCCC, CPR, USAW. It is preferred that candidates are former athletes or have previous experience working in Strength and Conditioning.
