Towson: Towson University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Summer 2018 unpaid volunteer internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting while working with all 19 varsity teams. This internship will fulfill course credit if necessary. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in an extensive curriculum that will enhance both scientific and practical knowledge pertaining to the field. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the implementation of strength and conditioning programs, attending to daily maintenance of training facilities, and administrative duties as assigned by strength coaches. Qualified candidates should have a strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach and be pursuing a bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field. Candidates should be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and be pursuing CSCS or SCCC certifications. Interns will gain hands on experience and the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of strength and conditioning. Toledo: University of Toledo’s Football Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified volunteer candidates for the Summer 2018 semester. The internship begins the week of May 14th and will go through the end of July, with the possibility of staying for the season.  This is an unpaid position, no monetary compensation will be provided. Position responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: assisting the staff in all aspects of the strength program, setting up and breaking down of equipment, assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities, assisting with nutrition, and participation in projects and assignments throughout the duration of the internship. Applicants must be certified or working toward certification with the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS) and have current CPR/AED certification. The candidate(s) must possess strong communication skills, motivational skills, and must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional at the collegiate or professional level.  Interested candidates should email a cover letter, resume, and three references to [email protected]. The Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for four VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) interns for SUMMER 2018. The internship will last from May 29 – July 27. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division 1 S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff. Mississippi State: The Mississippi State Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now seeking applications for UNPAID qualified Strength and Conditioning Interns for the Summer of 2018. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the MSU Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Summer training program, set up and break down of workouts and maintenance / upkeep of the weight room. This internship also provides educational courses for professional development in the field of Strength and Conditioning, Coaching and Certification Preparation. Preferred qualifications include Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, CSCS or CSCCa certifications, CPR/AED certifications and experience participating in Collegiate Football/Athletics. North Carolina Central: The North Carolina Central University Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for summer 2018 voluntary internships. The selected interns will gain hands on coaching experience with primarily football and men’s and women’s basketball at the Division-1 FCS level. Candidates should be highly motivated, disciplined, have a strong work ethic, and bring a positive attitude. The anticipated start date will be May 21, 2018 to August 3, 2018. Requirements include; setting up and breaking down equipment for daily training sessions, daily/weekly cleaning and maintenance, and any other duties specified by the strength staff. Preferred qualification’s: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology/exercise science related field, currently hold/pursuing certification from NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, or USAW, along with CPR/First Aid,AED certificaiton. Pepperdine: The Pepperdine strength and conditioning department is seeking applicants for the 2018 Summer Semester Internship Program. After candidate selection, interns will be responsible for weekly presentations to the full-time staff and weekly reading/research assignments. Interns will sit in on weekly staff presentations and participate in hands on sessions directed by the strength staff. The following subject areas will be addressed during your internship: assessing your athletes and pre session readiness, varying models and methods of periodization and programming, resistance training variables, movement classification, Olympic lifting variables, energy system development, power training, linear speed development, and other various topics. Responsibilities for the internship will include session set up/breakdown, cleaning and upkeep of the facility, and working directly with designated student athletes. You must be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week. Our goals is to have interns advance in the field of strength and conditioning after completing our internship. If you are serious about becoming a strength and conditioning coach, this internship will help you develop the necessary tools to advance in the field. Please note this is an unpaid internship and we do not offer housing. The internship runs for approximately 2 months, May 28th – August 3rd. We require each intern to take part in a 1-week orientation prior to starting the semester. New York Red Bulls: The Red Bulls are looking to hire an intern strength and conditioning coach. This internship requires a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, energetic and ambitious student or professional. He/She should aspire to be a strength and conditioning coach or sport scientist in the professional or collegiate sport setting. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (Required to perform the job) – Observe and assist with strength and conditioning training sessions. Observe and assist with practice training sessions. Observe and assist with training load monitoring programs * Observe and assist with injury prevention programs. Observe and assist with nutrition education and supplement implementation MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be currently enrolled in an exercise science related course of study and able to receive course credit hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS In possession of a nationally accredited certification with the NSCA or CSCCa; CPR and AED certified; in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science; flexible schedule for nights and weekends; previous experience coaching in a team setting.
