Louisiana-Monroe: The University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking 5-6 highly motivated interns for the summer of 2017. Candidates need to have a strong desire to pursue a career in the field of strength and conditioning. The internship will consist of assisting with football summer workouts as well as all Olympic sports that are present on campus. Candidates must be motivated, punctual, and possess a great work ethic. The internship will consist of assisting in the setup and breakdown of all training, maintenance of Malone Weight room, and daily educational sessions led by staff members. It is the goal of the ULM Strength and Conditioning Staff to educate all candidates on the science and practice of strength and conditioning so they may leave with a general understanding of programming as well as HOW to coach on the floor. Central Florida: The University of Central Florida Sports Performance department is now accepting applications for the summer 2017 internship program starting May 15 and lasting through August 4 with the opportunity to continue into the fall semester. This internship is for Olympic sports ONLY (no football). Selected individuals should expect to gain experience working with all Olympic sports at the University of Central Florida. Applicants should be highly motivated, eager to learn, and possess the desire to be involved with high-level collegiate athletics. Applicants should be working toward a degree in Exercise Science, or hold an undergraduate degree in the respective field and be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Accepted interns should expect early mornings, long days, and evening hours. The internship curriculum includes the opportunity to learn directly from the sports performance staff through team training sessions, as well as involvement in weekly staff meetings and intern education workshops designed to prepare interns for real life situations and to sit for the CSCS exam and/or the SCCC exam. You will be assigned to complete various different assignments including an annual program for a selected sport, a professional portfolio, and experience a professional mock job interview by the conclusion of the semester. This is strictly a VOLUNTEER internship. There will be no monetary compensation for this position; however, selected individuals should expect to receive valuable experience with various Division 1 athletic programs. Interns will also earn a letter of recommendation at the completion of the internship (contingent upon performance). Applications will be taken until the positions are filled.
