    Georgia: Sources tell us that Mark Hocke, an assistant strength coach at Alabama, is being hired as the head strength coach at Georgia. Update > Mark Richt has announced the hire and stated that Hocke’s official title will be director of strength and conditioning.

    Rice: The Department of Strength and Conditioning for Athletics at Rice University is accepting applications and resumes for Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Interns for Olympic Sports. These positions will begin immediately for the Spring, Summer and Fall Semesters of 2015. These are unpaid Internships. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS. Bachelor’s degree or seeking hourly or formal internship requirements for the completion of an undergraduate or master’s degree. A strong desire to not only pursue Strength and Conditioning Coaching as a career, but to also obtain Strength and Conditioning Coaching Certifications either from the C.S.C.C.A. or the N.S.C.A. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an extensive knowledge and coaching experience with Olympic- style lifting exercises. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field or Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of strength and conditioning programming for college level athletes.     UNLV: Per source, former USC assistant strength and conditioning coach Keith Belton is the new head strength and conditioning coach at UNLV.

    Vanderbilt: Former Nebraska strength coach James Dobson has been offered the head strength position at Vanderbilt pending formal clearances per sources. Jesse Johnson first reported the news this evening.

    Elon: Elon University Strength and Conditioning is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Spring 2015 semester. The internship will begin February 2nd and run through May 12th. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of Elon University’s 16 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties. This is an unpaid internship. However, candidates will receive Division I Intercollegiate experience, college credit towards graduation if applicable and be involved in the CSCCa mentorship program necessary to achieve the SCCC certification. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. Experience in a Strength and Conditioning Program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Having a background in performing and coaching Olympic lifts is preferred.
