University of Richmond: Performance Specialist Internship.  University of Richmond.  Location: The Robins Center/College Road,  University of Richmond, Richmond, VA 23173.  Duration: Semester Long = approx. 16 weeks (Fall, Spring, Summer). Hours: This is an unpaid internship. The hours will vary depending on sport responsibilities.  Overview: Our goal is to expose you to different philosophies and ideas and how they are integrated into our methodology and systems of training. We want you to learn how to evaluate the body in a more 3 dimensional format, understanding the entire kinetic chain and prescribing and implementing the best exercises and progressions to meet the individual needs of each athlete. Open your mind about all of the possibilities when training athletes--think outside the box and forget the cookie cutter approach. Daily duties and responsibilities include: facility and weight room maintenance, laundry, equipment set-up and break down, stretching, assisting the Strength Coaches as needed with various aspects of training and testing, and much more.  Qualifications: Proficient with Anatomy, Computer Literate-Word and Excel, Excellent communications skills, Attention to Detail, Proactive, Fulfilling a curriculum/graduation requirement in Exercise Science or related field. Ohio State: Football Performance Intern.  Columbus, OH.  Description:  The intern will work with Division I college student-athletes in football and some Olympic sports.  The intern program is designed for highly motivated men and women.  Interns will help implement the strength and conditioning program and be expected to participate in several professional development projects.  Required Qualifications:  minimum college senior majoring in exercise physiology or a related field; prior coaching experience; CPR certification Preferred Qualifications:  BA/BS in exercise physiology or a related field; CSCS, SCCC, and/or USAW certifications; college athletic experience.  Compensation:  College credit, gear when available, increased knowledge, and Division I Strength & Conditioning experience. TCU: Internship Program. Spring 09 and Summer 09.  Internships through the TCU Strength & Conditioning department are currently available to those who would like to pursue a career in Strength & Conditioning. The TCU Strength & Conditioning Department is a teaching department that offers our interns hands-on experience as well as prepares them to become qualified Strength & Conditioning professionals. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all sixteen (16) of TCU's Men's and Women's sports totaling more than 400 student-athletes. We believe in providing a comprehensive education as the department is headed by Don Sommer, a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach.  DUTIES: Interns will be responsible for assisting the Head and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coaches in the day to day operations of the Strength & Conditioning Department. The level of initiative set forth by our interns will determine their overall learning experience.  COMPENSATION: This is a non-paid position but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. University of Memphis: The University of Memphis is seeking a Graduate Assistant in Strength and Conditioning to work with designated teams.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to; design and implement specific strength & conditioning programs for assigned teams; supervise both individual and team workouts; maintain team and individual records; implementation, demonstration and instruction of Olympic weightlifting techniques; provide appropriate maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and the weight room; motivate both small and large groups of student-athletes; passion for the strength and conditioning field.  Requirements: USAW certification, current CPR certification, previous experience in designing and implementing programs for all sports, experience working with athletic teams, collegiate experience as an intern preferred.  Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS) preferred. JOB OPENING:

Virginia: The University of Virginia Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The successful candidate will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 30 hours per week with the strength & conditioning department. The program is designed for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience.  The daily responsibilities will include:  Assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs Teaching student athletes proper techniques and equipment use Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities. Participation in weekly projects and assignments throughout the internship program Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. Holy Cross: Jeremy Frisch has been hired as an assistant strength & conditioning coach.  Frisch previously served as a strength coach with Teamworks Sports Center in Massachusetts.  He is a 2007 graduate of Worchester State College.

Northwestern State University: Natchitoches, Louisiana - Sports Performance Assistant (Graduate Assistant).  Job Description - Three (3) ten-month positions are currently available. Sports Performance Assistants will aid in all areas of strength and conditioning instruction with NCAA Division I Southland Conference athletes.  Candidates are also required to spend 20 hours a week working in NSU's Health and Human Performance program.  Qualifications - 2.5 Cumulative Undergraduate GPA and over an 800 on the GRE.  Graduate assistant must be enrolled full-time (9 hours/semester) in the Health and Human Performance graduate program, and have practical knowledge of exercise technique instruction.  Experience with the Conjugated Periodization and Olympic lifts helpful.
