UL-Lafayette: Our sources tell us Mark Hudspeth has hired Jacksonville State defensive coordinator Greg Stewart for the same position at ULL.  We have also heard that Hudspeth is trying to lure Mississippi State corners coach Melvin Smith.

Florida: Will Muschamp will be named head coach at Florida. 

Kentucky: We hear Lagrange HS coach Steve Pardue was at Kentucky’s practice today, but our sources tell us Joker has not offered a job to Pardue at this point. 

Howard Payne University ( TX ): (Defensive backs, but could also be something on the offensive side too) has an opening for an Assistant Football Coach. Howard Payne University is a NCAA Division III member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC). This position is a full-time, twelve month position, reporting directly to the Head Coach. Responsibilities include: Coaching positions on either side of the ball, assisting the Head Football Coach in all aspects of an intercollegiate football program, including recruitment of qualified student-athletes, organizing and conducting practices, film analysis and break down. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; candidates must have a minimum of three years of successful coaching experience.  The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven recruiting skills and must have a commitment to academic success and student-athlete well being. Gardner-Webb: Our sources close to the situation tell us that the search committee has not even started contacting candidates.

Lake Forest College: is seeking applicants for the position of assistant football coach/offensive line. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: all aspects of coaching the offensive line, computer data entry, intense telephone recruiting, video breakdown, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, be highly organized, and demonstrate a commitment to the team’s success. North Texas: Our sources tell us that Dan McCarney has talked with Atif Austin about the running backs job at UNT.  Austin played for McCarney at Iowa State.  He served as the running backs coach at Northern Iowa for several years before accepting the head coaching job at Tarpon Springs HS (FL) last spring. 

Kentucky:  We have confirmed that Rick Minter is at practice today. 

Northern Illinois:  We have learned that Northern Illinois is interested in Syracuse defensive coordinator Scott Shafer. 

High School Scoop: There were a ton of changes on Friday.

North Carolina Central: Our sources tell us that North Carolina Central administrators have interviewed Prairie View A&M head coach Henry Frazier. 

Northern Arizona: Head coach Jerome Souers has agreed to a three-year contract extension through 2014.

College of Sequoias (CA): Offensive coordinator Robert Dougherty has been promoted to head coach.

Miami (FL): There is a report in the Miami Herald that Miami (FL) has narrowed the candidates to Randy Edsall, Al Golden, and Marc Trestman.  Over the last week, we have been getting emails that have assured us that Trestman had talked with Miami (FL) officials and that he is certainly in the mix.  Our attempts to confirm the contact were unsuccessful, so we decided to leave it off the site.  Trestman is the head coach of Montreal Alouettes.

Arkansas: There is a report that Bobby Petrino has agreed to a new 7-year contract.

Texas: TideSports.com reports that Alabama offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Jim McElwain has emerged as a candidate to fill the offensive coordinator position at Texas.  We have not confirmed this information.

Mississippi State: Our sources tell us that Dan Mullen is considering a couple of options to fill the position on his offensive staff.  We were told that Mullen will take his time, but he is considering Marshall University wide receivers coach Zach Smith.
