Detroit Lions: Head coach Jim Caldwell has signed a multi-year extension with the club, per Adam Schefter. Schefter stated the deal was signed months ago but is just now being publicized to end speculation around his job since this was the final year of Caldwell’s original contract. Now in his fourth season in Detroit, Caldwell is 29-21 (including a 2-0 start to this season) with two playoff appearances.

Southern Miss: Running backs coach Lytrel Pollard is “taking an indefinite leave of absence due to health concerns” reports Jason Munz. Will update when more is known.

Ole Miss: Hugh Freeze has apologized.
