#StaffTracker: A one stop page where you can keep track of how the new head coaches are filling their staffs. NFL – FBS – FCS – D-II


Alabama: Nick Saban is adding Tennessee safeties coach and former Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly to his staff to work with the secondary, per ESPN. The report also adds what others have previously reported in Sal Suneri (OLBs), Kyle Flood (OL), Charles Huff (RBs), and Vinnie Sunseri (graduate assistant) are also joining the staff.

Louisiana Tech: Per source, former McNeese State (FCS – LA) special teams coordinator Dennis Smith is joining the staff in the same capacity.

Florida State: Ron Dugans, who served as the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach last season at Miami (FL), will be the new wide receivers coach for the Seminoles, Bruce Feldman tweets. Dugans previously coached with Willie Taggart at USF.

Alabama: Nick Saban is set to hire Mississippi State running backs coach Charles Huff to a similar post, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com. Zenitz adds Huff could add a co-offensive coordinator title. Huff coached Penn State’s running backs from 2014-17. Joe Pannunzio coached the Tide’s running backs last season but remains on Saban’s staff.

Oklahoma: Lincoln Riley has set his defensive staff for 2019 — Alex Grinch (defensive coordinator, safeties), Calvin Thibodeaux (defensive line), Brian Odom (inside linebackers), Ruffin McNeill (outside linebackers), Roy Manning (cornerbacks). Thibodeaux and McNeill are the only holdovers from 2018.

LSU: Former defensive lineman Christian LaCoutre is joining the staff as a defensive grad assistant.

Minnesota: Source tells FootballScoop PJ Fleck is planning to hire Oregon defensive analyst Rod Chance to be his corners coach. Chance previously served as defensive coordinator at Southern Utah and was on staff at Vanderbilt four seasons prior to that.

Rutgers: Source tells FootballScoop the offensive line job at Rutgers remains open and the staff plans to continue to consider new applicants.

Dallas Cowboys: With tight ends coach Doug Nussmeier already under consideration, the Cowboys are also considering promoting quarterbacks coach Kellen Moore to offensive coordinator and hiring Jon Kitna as quarterbacks coach, tweets Ian Rapoport. Kitna is currently the offensive coordinator for the AAF’s San Diego Fleet.

Buffalo Bills: The Bills are considering promoting offensive assistant Chad Hall to wide receivers coach to replace Terry Robiskie, who left for the Jaguars, tweets Alex Marvez.

Arizona State: We shared last night, per source, Fresno State defensive line coach Jamar Cain is expected to become the new defensive line coach for the Sun Devils.

Illinois Wesleyan (D-III): Illinois Wesleyan University is seeking an offensive graduate assistant to work with the wide receivers. Candidates must be interested in a degree in Kinesiology and Recreation and have a minimum 3.0 GPA as an undergrad. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and references to Head Coach Norm Eash with “WR GA Position” in the subject line at [email protected].

Midwestern State (D-II – TX): Per source, Southwest Minnesota State (D-II) graduate assistant Mitch Fair has taken a graduate assistant position with the staff at Midwestern State.

Mississippi College (D-II): Source tells FootballScoop that veteran coach Tony Gilbert has joined the staff as defensive coordinator. Gilbert has previous stops at Arkansas State and Louisiana Monroe, as well as Southeast Missouri, Eastern Illinois, Stephen F. Austin Central Arkansas & Southern Arkansas.

Lindenwood-Belleville (NAIA – MO): Lindenwood University-Belleville is currently looking for 1 student worker (GA). The candidate must be eligible for graduate school admission. Any interested candidates should contact Head Football Coach Pat Stewart at [email protected].
