Tennessee: WBIR is reporting Butch Jones and athletic director John Currie met Sunday evening. “Barring any unforeseen developments Sunday night or Monday morning, Jones will coach Tennessee this week against Southern Miss, those sources said, but the fifth-year head coach’s future beyond Saturday is unknown.
Florida: Brett McMurphy reports that Jim McElwain may only get $4 million of his $12.9 million buyout because of the “way he disclosed death threats and (McElwain’s) agent’s ties to other candidates.” McMurphy expands, noting a source told him “Sexton won’t fight it because it’s not in his best long-term interest” noting that Jimmy also represents Dan Mullen and other clients.
Florida: UF has now announced the parting of ways with Jim McElwain and also confirmed Randy Shannon will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Tennessee: Following yesterday’s 29-26 loss at Kentucky, UT officials are “discussing Butch Jones’ immediate future as coach of the Vols on Sunday afternoon” reports Mike Griffith. Will update as more is clear…

Roger Goodell: Adam Schefter reports this morning that Jerry Jones and 17 NFL owners joined a conference call Thursday to talk about the possibility of delaying commissioner Roger Goodell’s pending contract extension, a deal that many believed to should have been wrapped up this summer. A total of 24 NFL owners would need to approve the removal of Goodell, and many are apparently upset with the performance of Goodell and a few other high ranking NFL employees. Read more here.
