Mixing C/D Gap Reads in Heavy Personnel RPO Packages: Producing three and four-man surfaces have become the most common adjustment for offenses to attack Odd front structures. And for good reason, a defense has more gaps to account for and the gap run schemes have helped alleviate the pressure these defenses are synonymous in using. At Bethel College (TN) this season, head coach Brent Dearmon called 320 RPOs (40% of his offensive output) and most of which came from 12/21 personnel groupings. As a result, the Wildcats led the country at the NAIA level with 55 points per game and finished second with 540 yards per game. X&O Labs is releasing an exclusive clinic report featuring Coach Dearmon and his six top RPOs from these groupings and how using an in-line blocker in the D gap cleans up the read for the quarterback.
