Illinois: Lovie made it official today, his son Miles is being promoted to linebackers coach. Lovie noted he will help coach the linebackers and will serve as defensive coordinator as well. Alrighty then….
Tim Horton: Gus Malzahn acknowledged today that Tim Horton is leaving the program. “Tim did a very good job for us. He’s a great person, which everybody knows. Tim decided he’s going to do something different.” Quote via Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover.
Mississippi State: Source tells FootballScoop Andrew Warsaw has been promoted to assistant AD for football. To fill the operations role, source tells FootballScoop Maryland director of recruiting Dave Wilczewski is joining the staff as director of football operations. Wilczewski spent the past five seasons at Maryland and was at UConn five seasons before that.
Bob Stoops: Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops is expected to be named head coach or GM of the Dallas based XFL team reports PFT.
Texas: Tom Herman said Tuesday that tight ends coach Derek Warehime has taken over special teams coordinator duties, allowing safeties coach Craig Naivar to take a promotion to co-defensive coordinator.
Wisconsin: Source tells FootballScoop Peter Weiden is returning to the Wisconsin staff as Director of Football Program Operations. He previously served as the Assistant DFO at Mississippi State and DFO at Minnesota in 2017.

Coastal Carolina: Per source, Furman (FCS – SC) defensive coordinator Chad Staggs has left to join the staff at Coastal Carolina.
Kentucky: Mark Stoops noted at his signing day presser today that an NFL head coach reached out today about a potential coaching candidate on the UK staff.
North Texas: North Texas has announced Clay Jennings as its new cornerbacks coach. Jennings played at UNT and began his coaching career as a student assistant and a graduate assistant with the Mean Green in the 1990s. He spent 2018 as the defensive backs coach at Texas Tech.
Elmhurst (D-III – IL): Former head coach Ron Planz has accepted the head coaching job at Larkin HS (IL). Planz led the Elmhurst program for five seasons before being let go in early January.
Mississippi State: Per source, Chase Haslett is moving from offensive graduate assistant to an offensive quality control role.
John Carroll (D-III – OH): John Carroll University, a Division III university located in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a defensive graduate assistant working specifically with the defensive line. JCU has been to the division III national playoffs 4 of the last 6 seasons, and is looking for candidates with prior collegiate playing / coaching experience with the defensive line. The candidate will be responsible for managing his own position group, recruiting area, in-season / post-season film breakdowns, self scout, scout team organization, as well as any other duties assigned by the defensive coordinator and head football coach. This position includes full tuition once accepted into the master’s program and monthly stipend. The chosen applicant must be able to gain acceptance into one of John Carroll’s Master’s programs of study. The position will not include housing or meals. Memphis: Matt Moriarty, who served as a defensive graduate assistant working with the defensive line at Central Michigan last season, has accepted the same role on the Memphis staff, per source.
Arizona State: After being named to Pro Football Hall of Fame, offensive analyst Kevin Mawae had an emotional return to the Arizona State offices recently. Catch those special moments here in this video.
Colorado State: Anthony Perkins, who spent last season as an assistant to the head coach with the Tampa Bay Bucs, has officially joined the staff as corners coach.
San Diego State: Former San Jose State head coach Ron Caragher has been promoted to tight ends coach/passing game coordinator. He was a quality control assistant with the Aztecs in 2018.
Northwestern: Per source, Terrell Dallas has joined the staff as an offensive graduate assistant. Dallas spent last year as a graduate assistant at UTSA where he worked with the quarterbacks, and spent two seasons in a quality control role at Wake Forest.

New England Patriots: The Patriots plan to name Greg Schiano their new defensive coordinator reports Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.
Southern Miss: Southern Miss has released a statement after interviewing Art Briles for their offensive coordinator job that made it clear they will not be hiring Art Briles; however, shortly thereafter head coach Jay Hopson released a personal statement on the matter. Cincinnati Bengals: A report from Cincinnati.com shares that Alex Van Pelt (QBs), Bob Bicknell (WRs), Darrin Simmons (special teams), Brayden Coombs (assistant special teams), Robert Livingston (safeties), Daronte Jones (corners), and Dan Pitcher (assistant QBs) are expected to be retained, and James Casey is expected to come on as tight ends coach.
Bucknell (FCS – PA): Bucknell plans to hire Valpo head coach Dave Cecchini as its head coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday. Details here.
Rutgers: Kolby Smith, who coached the running backs at Louisville the last few seasons, has joined the Rutgers staff as running backs coach, per 247 who adds that Nunzio Campanile is expected to shift from running backs to tight ends.
Southwestern (D-III – TX): Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Football Coach. A master’s degree is preferred, but not required. Evidence of successful coaching experience and an endorsement of the NCAA Division III philosophy is required. Candidates must have intercollegiate football coaching/playing experience or high level competitive equivalent. Duties include, but are not limited to, coaching an assigned position group, aiding with practice and game preparations, recruiting, and assisting the Head Coach with overall administration of the football program. Preferred skill set includes experience with wide receivers; skill sets from other position backgrounds will receive equal review. Additional duties may include administrative and/or teaching duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Preferred starting date is March 1, 2019 but is negotiable. This is an entry-level, 9-month appointment with benefits. The University will only accept application materials via this link.
San Diego State: Brady Hoke, who coached the defensive line for the Carolina Panthers last season, is returning to San Diego State as defensive line coach according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Hoke served as the head coach at San Diego State in 2009-10.
Northern Arizona: Head coach Chris Ball has announced his full coaching staff, most of whom we’ve already reported on. To recap; offensive coordinator Aaron Pflugrad will return in the same role, Jerry Partridge will serve as defensive coordinator, Robin Pflugrad has added the title of assistant head coach and will work with the tight ends, Bob Connelly is the run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Aaron Price will coach the special teams and running backs, Jesse Thompson will work with the secondary, Everettee Thompson will coach the defensive line, Junior Tanuvasa will work with the outside linebackers, Junior Taylor will coach the wide receivers, Jimmy Beal will oversee the corners and handle football operations, and Brennan Ball will work as director of player personnel and recruiting.
Augustana (D-II – SD): Augustana University is located in Sioux Falls, SD, has an immediate opening for a graduate assistant football coach Defensive Backs. The position includes tuition, a $6,000 stipend and limited meal plan. The successful applicant must have a college degree (3.0 gpa and experience with Def Secondary as player or coach are preferred).
