New series: Starting today, we’re going to look at the 15 most important assistant coaching hires of the 2018 season. We begin with Illinois offensive coordinator Rod Smith.

Baylor: Former Baylor AD Ian McCaw testified that university higher-ups attempted a cover-up and to scapegoat the football program in its university-wide sexual assault scandal.

Big 12: Greg Burks, who previously oversaw officiating in the Mountain West, has been tabbed the Big 12 coordinator of football officials.

NBC Sports: Former NFL official and coordinator of officials for the AAC Terry McAulay has been named the on-air rules analyst for Sunday Night Football and Notre Dame games, per Bryan Fischer.

Truman State (D-II – MO):T ruman State is seeking applicants for a defensive restricted earning position. This position will help with all defensive administrative work, assisting in preparation of game planning material and opponent film breakdown. The position will include a monthly stipend of $1,000 and will be a 10 month contract. There are no other benefits associated with this position (housing, classes, or meals). McDaniel (D-III – MD): McDaniel College is looking for a full-time assistant to work with the quarterbacks. Applicant will be required to coach their own position group, have their own recruiting area and perform all other duties assigned by the head coach. College coaching and/or playing experience preferred. Compensation package includes salary, and full benefits. Review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until filled. Ottawa (NAIA – KS): Ottawa University, KS is looking to fill a graduate assistant position (either offensive or defensive).  Applicants must be able to be accepted into graduate school with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA (provisional acceptance may be considered if lower).  Compensation includes full tuition, meal plan, and a stipend ($5280/year).  Please send resume and cover letter to [email protected].

UNC Pembroke (D-II): UNC Pembroke is looking to hire both offensive and defensive quality control assistants. Applicants must be able to get into Graduate School with a minimum undergraduate accumulative grade point average of 2.7. Sam Houston State (FCS): Sam Houston State University is looking to fill a Video Coordinator Restricted Earnings type position. This position will manage all aspects of the football video production department and provide assistance to the football staff with video needs including but not limited to recruiting videos, highlights and promotional videos, and videos for professional scouts. This position will supervise and train the video staff, oversee the filming and editing of football practices and games, manage video organization and storage, maintain inventory of video equipment, perform routine maintenance on video equipment and perform other duties as assigned. Colorado School of Mines (D-II): Colorado School of Mines seeks applicants for a defensive assistant position coach. This is an entry-level position who will gain valuable experience working within a NCAA division II football program. Applicants with DB/LB playing or coaching experience at the college level and verifiable computer skills including but not limited to Hudl, Excel, Power Point, and Viso will receive first priority. Position also requires the teaching of a minimum of two PE classes per semester. Local applicants are encouraged to apply. The position pays $12,000 with no benefits plus a teaching stipend.
