Texas State: Per multiple reports, former Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads is a finalist for the head coaching job.
Western Michigan: Per source, Eastern Michigan defensive line coach Jimmy Williams is joining the Western Michigan staff in the same capacity. Prior to joining the EMU staff in February of 2014, Williams was the assistant head coach / defensive coordinator / inside linebackers coach at UAB.
Indianapolis Colts: Ian Rapoport is reporting that tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts and secondary coaches Mike Gillhamer and Roy Anderson are being let go.
McNeese State (FCS – LA): Lance Guidry has formally announced the additions of Kerry Joseph (co-offensive coordinator / WRs), Zack Bronson (DBs), Charlie Ayro (linebackers) and Dennis Smith (RBs / STC). Also, Landon Hoefer, who coached the quarterbacks the last two seasons on staff, has been promoted to offensive coordinator, Lark Hebert will move from linebackers to defensive line / camp recruiter / DFO, and Eman Naghavi will coach the offensive line and serve as recruting coordinator. Toby Willis will continue to coach the TEs and Carlos Perez will handle the defensive ends.
Florida A&M: Defensive graduate assistant Alex Peffley has added the title of recruiting coordinator.
Eastern Kentucky: Florida A&M defensive ends coach Walter Stewart is joining the staff at Eastern Kentucky
St. Louis Rams: The Rams have asked permission to interview Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator job, per Ian Rapoport. The Rams fired their offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti on December 7th.
San Francisco 49ers: Jim Tomsula will get every cent of the $14 million specified in his four-year contract, team owner Jed York has stated. “I would say this: we’ve got several years of Jimmy T’s salary left and we’re going to eat it. Whether he’s coaching somewhere else or not, we owe him that,” York added.
Steve Sarkisian: Sark is putting out feelers to various NFL teams and has expressed interest in joining a team as quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator, according to a report from Adam Schefter. Sources had told FootballScoop when Kalani Sitake was being vetted for the job at BYU that there were discussions about bringing Sark on as offensive coordinator but that idea was not ultimately supported by BYU.
Syracuse: Western Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart is joining the Syracuse staff in the same capacity. SI has reported the move, and we can confirm.
UTSA: The university has announced that Larry Coker is “stepping down,” confirming our report from earlier.
Indianapolis Colts: The Colts have announced that defensive coordinator Greg Manusky will not return. Manusky had been Chuck Pagano’s defensive coordinator for all four seasons.
Iowa State: Christian Smith (defensive GA), Taylor Mouser (offensive GA), and Jeff Myers (offensive GA) have joined the program after each of them served in similar capacities at Toledo last season. Mark Thurston has joined the staff as assistant director of scouting. Thurston worked for head coach Matt Campbell at Toledo as defensive quality control in 2015. Also, Taylor Wilhelm (who served as a video GA at Toledo last year), has joined the staff and his role is specified as Director of New Media.
Syracuse: Dino Babers has announced Sean Edinger (strength), Jeff Sobol (assistant strength), Brad Wittke (DFO), and Roy Wittke (player development) as key support staff hires. All four worked with Babers at Bowling Green.
Georgia Southern: Sources tell FootballScoop Valdosta State (D-II – GA) head coach David Dean plans to accept a senior position on Tyson Summers staff.
Iowa State: Doug Phillips has joined the staff as director of player personnel. Phillips spent the last seven years as a high school administrator at Dickson HS (TN). Phillips has 13 years of college football experience, including a stop as the recruiting coordinator at Bowling Green when Matt Campbell was on staff.
Rocky Mountain College (NAIA – MT): Rocky Mountain has announced five finalists for their head coaching position and they are former Montana head coach Robin Pflugrad, former Montana State-Northern head coach Mark Samson, Rocky Mountain defensive coordinator Matt Hollowell, South Dakota defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Jason Petrino, and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology offensive coordinator Zach Tinker.
Maryland: Source tells FootballScoop that Arkansas State running backs coach Anthony Tucker will be the new running backs coach at Maryland.
East Carolina: Sources tell FootballScoop that Middle Tennessee’s Geep Wade has agreed to become the new offensive line coach at ECU.
James Madison: Adrian Mayes has officially announced his joining of the JMU staff as co-offensive coordinator, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Defensive coordinator Bob Babich will not return.

Duke Tobin: Tobin, the personnel chief for the Bengals, has been contacted by the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans regarding their GM positions, but he’s committed to staying in Cincinnati according to Adam Schefter.
Iowa State: The Cyclones have now formally introduced Jon Heacock as their defensive coordinator.
South Carolina: Jessica Jackson has joined Will Muschamp’s staff as on-campus recruiting director.
South Dakota State (FCS): South Dakota State is no longer accepting applications for their quality control or defensive backs positions. Thanks for the overwhelming interest.
Jackson State (FCS – MS): Per source, LaMarcus Hicks is joining the staff as defensive backs coach. Hicks coached the corners at North Texas the past two seasons.
Santa Ana (JC – CA): Santa Ana College is searching for a quarterbacks coach. College coaching, recruiting, and HUDL video system experience preferred. This is a stipend position starting this spring. Candidates should email their resume to [email protected].
New York Giants: The Giants have requested permission to interview Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase, per Ian Rapoport.

Cleveland Brown: The organization will interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott in Cleveland on Thursday, per Ian Rapoport.
Sam Houston State (FCS – TX): Per source, defensive line coach Phil Petitte has left the staff in order to pursue coaching opportunities back East where he can be closer to family.
Southern University: North Carolina A&T State outside linebackers coach Trei Oliver has accepted the defensive coordinator position, per source.
Scoop him up: Tulane offensive line graduate assistant Matt Jones has spent the last two seasons working under seasoned offensive minds Eric Price and John McDonnell and his time with the program is wrapping up. Jones is well known for his creation of the #LinemanLunch hashtag and Facebook group that has attracted over 25,000 fans that is aimed at highlighting the finer points of blocking and fundamentals of offensive line play. Jones has a wealth of experience coaching and recruiting at the college level and his references include former Tulane HC Curtis “CJ” Johnson, Ball State assistant Justin Lustig, Villanova HC Andy Talley, new Northern Illinois OC Mike Uremovich, and FAU DC Roc Bellantoni.
Ave Maria (NAIA – FL): Ave Maria University is looking for one game for the 2016 season. The dates open are 8/27, 10/1, and 11/12. Prefer NAIA or D3 teams, but we are open to all possibilities. Georgia: Shane Beamer will coach the tight ends and oversee special teams on Kirby Smart’s staff.
Texas: Ken Rucker is set to retire, according to Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman. Rucker spent 11 years with the Longhorns in a variety of roles, including director of high school relations/player development and running backs coach.
LSU: Les Miles notes that they’re working on a new contract for offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns have hired former basbeall general manager Paul DePodesta as chief strategy officer according to Chris Mortensen.
Southern (FCS – LA): Southern head coach Dawson Odums notes that he’s “leaning toward” hiring a defensive coordinator to take the duties off of his plate. Odums has served in both capacities since being promoted to interim head coach in 2012 and he notes in The Advocate that he doesn’t expect to make any staff hires before the conclusion of the AFCA convention.
Eastern New Mexico (D-II): Eastern New Mexico University is looking for 1 offensive GA to coach WRss and 1 defensive GA working with DL or OLBs. Interested candidates can email resumes to [email protected]. No phone calls please.
Lenoir-Rhyne (D-II – NC): All positions on Mike Kellar’s staff have been filled, per source. Aaron Brock (defensive assistant), and Arketa Banks (offensive assistant) are the two full-time guys being retained from the previous staff, along with graduate assistants AJ Hopke, O’Neal Blake, Matt Villanti, and student assistant Tanner Botts. The defensive side of ball will consist of Mike Lopez (DC), Brian Hill (assistant HC), Brock, and David Cole. On the offensive side are Banks, Jeremy Harmer, Bob McClain, and Mitch Hairston.
New York Giants: Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo are both expected to interview for the head coaching job this week, per Giants beat writer Art Stapleton.
North Texas: Source tells FootballScoop UTSA assistant AD for football Shane Elder will join the staff at North Texas in a similar capacity, likely with director of football operations title.
South Carolina: Per source, Jacksonville State co-defensive coordinator / linebackers David Blackwell is a strong candidate to join Will Muschamp’s staff. Jax State plays for the FCS national championship this Saturday versus NDSU.
East Carolina: Per source, App State co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford has turned down the opportunity to join the staff at East Carolina. We hear Middle Tennessee offensive line coach Geep Wade is also high on Scottie Montgomery’s list. Will update…
Boise State: At Boise State, interviews for the defensive backs position still need to take place. Former player Gerald Alexander is a strong candidate for the opening. We’ll update as things are finalized.
Syracuse: Western Michigan defensive line coach Vinson Reynolds has accepted the same position on Dino Babers’ staff, per SI.
Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins have requested permission to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson for their head coaching job, per Jeff Darlington who points out the interview could happen as soon as Sunday.
Tennessee Titans: One of the first interviews for the GM position with the Titans will be with New York Giants VP of player evaluation Marc Ross, per Ian Rapoport.
Tennessee Tech: Per source, Marcus Satterfield is bringing with him defensive graduate assistant Bobby Maffei and offensive graduate assistant Derek Carr from Temple.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns have requested, and received, permission to interview New England defensive coordinator Matt Patricia according to Adam Schefter.
Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (German Football League): The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the GFL (German Football League) are looking for an offensive coordinator. Please email all inquiries to [email protected].
Wroclaw Panthers (Europe): The Wroclaw Panthers located in Poland have an immediate opening for a assistant coach (working with special teams and a position group). Virginia-Wise (D-II): Shap Boyd will be the new defensive coordinator at Virginia-Wise, per source. Wise spent the last two seasons coaching the defensive backs and serving as special teams coordinator at Southestern (NAIA – FL).
Chowan (D-II – NC): Chowan has promoted linebackers coach Kurt von Bargen to defensive coordinator.
