Southern Miss: Sources tell FootballScoop Southern Miss’ meeting with Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier went very well. Sources tell us Nussmeier is a very strong candidate for the job.

Liberty: Scott Downing has joined the staff as running backs coach and special teams coordinator.

Hawaii: School officials have confirmed offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Zak Hill’s departure for Boise State.

San Francisco 49ers: The Niners have announced Chip Kelly’s coaching staff — Curis Modkins (offensive coordinator), Bob Bicknell (wide receivers), Ryan Day (quarterbacks), Jeff Nixon (tight ends), Tom Rathman (running backs), Pat Flaherty (offensive line), Eric Wolford (assistant offensive line), Mick Lombardi (offensive QC), Jim O’Neil (defensive coordinator), Jerry Azzinaro (defensive line), Jeff Hafley (defensive backs), Hardy Nickerson (inside linebackers), Jason Tarver (outside linebackers), Derius Swinton II (special teams coordinator), Michael Clay (assistant special teams),

College of Idaho (NAIA): Mitch Dahlen and Michael Cody have joined the staff as co-offensive coordinators. Dahlen was on staff as quarterbacks coach last season, and Cody was a graduate assistant at Northern Arizona last year.

Missouri: Defensive analyst Phil Pitts has been named the head coach at Central HS (St. Joseph, MO).

Ball State: The program has announced the additions of Tim Daoust (DC), Kyle DeVan (OL), Johnny Curtis (LBs), Byron Ellis (DFO), and Ben Armer (director of strength and conditioning).

Wabash (D-III – IN): Jeff Ramsey, who coordinated the defensive at Puget Sound (D-III – WA) last season, has been hired by Wabash in the same capacity.

ACC: The ACC has announced Ted Jackson as the league’s first assistant coordinator for football replay, handling the conference’s football replay efforts.

Springfield College (D-III – MA): The school has announced that longtime offensive coordinator Mike Cerasuolo has been named head coach. Cerasuolo just wrapped up his 15th season as offensive coordinator.

Philadelphia Eagles: Missouri defensive line coach Chris Wilson has joined the organization Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has announced.

Tennessee Titans: Bob Bratkowski has been hired to coach the team’s wide receivers. Bratkowski served as the offensive coordinator with the Jaguars with Mike Mularkey in 2012.


Scoop him up: Alberto Cordero spent this last season working in a quality control role for the special teams at Maryland. Prior to joining the Maryland staff, Cordero coached the wide receivers and served as recruiting coordinator and DFO at Central Connecticut State, and before that was a graduate assistant at the University of New Haven. Cordero (who is down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL) participated in the NFL-NCAA Future Football Coaches Academy in 2014 and has worked alongside Randy Edsall, Mike Locksley, Joe Moorhead, Keenan McCardell and former NFL head coach Chris Palmer.


Detroit Lions: GM Bob Quinn tells the Detroit News that Lance Newmark will remain with the team as the director of scouting.

Northern Illinois: Rod Carey has completed his coaching staff with the addition of Josh Homolka, who spent the past eight seasons coordinating the defense at Ottawa University (NAIA – KS). Homolka will coach the safeties.

UCF: Jovan Dewitt has been announced as linebackers coach / special teams coordinator at UCF.

Wisconsin: Sources tell us that former USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox is finalizing terms to become Wisconsin’s new defensive coordinator. Read more here.

Springfield College (D-III – MA): Springfield College has multiple graduate assistant openings. This position includes 9 credits per semester towards a master’s degree, stipend, no meals or housing. This position offers the opportunity to coach your own position group, and recruit a specific area as appointed by the head football coach. Southern Virginia (D-III): Per source, Joe DuPaix will be the new head coach at Southern Virginia. DuPaix is the former running backs coach / recruiting coordinator at BYU.

Saskatchewan Roughriders: Prairie View A&M (FCS) defensive tackles coach / recruiting coordinator Jo Nixon has accepted a position as a regional scout, per source.

Southern Miss: According to the Hattiesburg American, Todd Monken owed the school $385,000 as part of his buyout and the Tampa Bay Bucs have agreed to pay it.

Dordt (NAIA – IA): Dordt College, located in Sioux Center, IA,  is accepting resumes for a graduate assistant football coach. A Bachelor’s degree in Education along with admission to the Dordt College Master of Education program is required. The position is a 2 year commitment with annual review. Georgia Tech: Per source, Capital (D-III – OH) head coach Craig Candeto is resigning to become the assistant director of operations at Georgia Tech. Candeto is a former Navy quarterback, and fighter pilot who led the Capital program the last three seasons.

Boise State: Sources tell us Hawaii offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Zak Hill is a strong candidate to join the Boise State staff.

Michigan: Connecticut AD Warde Manuel will be named the Wolverines’ new AD according to the Detroit Free Press and AJerseyGuy.com. Read more here.

San Francisco 49ers: Jeff Nixon is joining the staff as tight ends coach according to CSNBayArea. Nixon spent the past five seasons with the Miami Dolphins coaching the running backs.

Kansas: Per source, Kent State director of football operations Nolan Jones is heading to Kansas in the same capacity. Prior to Kent State, Jones served as director of football operations at Northwestern, Michigan, and Kentucky.

Chicago Bears: Richard Hightower has been named assistant special teams coach. Hightower served in the same capacity with the 49ers last season.

Chowan (D-II – NC): Per source, Kyle Chase has accepted the defensive backs / recruiting coordinator job and we understand that Chowan is no longer accepting resumes at this time.

Cleveland Browns: Lionel Vital, the director of player personnel with the Falcons, has interviewed for the Browns top personnel job according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

New York Giants: Former 49ers head coach Mike Singletary has interviewed for a position on the defensive staff with the Giants. Singletary last coached the linebackers with the Vikings in 2013 before taking a few seasons off.
