Ole Miss: Hugh Freeze staged his own funeral to teach his players a lesson. Very interesting to hear Hugh explain his rationale.

Louisiana College: Jon Davis is joining the staff as assistant defensive line coach / strength and conditioning intern, per source.

Mansfield University (Sprint – PA): The Sprint football program at Mansfield is seeking a running backs coach. This is a season position. Interested candidates can send their resumes to [email protected].

Central Florida: The Knights will erect a statue for former head coach George O’Leary near Bright House Networks Stadium sometime in 2017, according to the Orlando Sentinel. O’Leary went 81-60 with three conference championships in 12 seasons at UCF.

Navy: Navy’s Summer 2016 video is just fantastic. On top of everything you see in the video, FootballScoop’s Zach Barnett adds, “And to think, they do all this while going 36-16 in their last four seasons.” Yeah, first class.

Ferris State (D-II – MI): Dan Rohn, who led Grand Rapids West Catholic HS (MI) to four state titles, has joined Tony Annese’s staff as quarterbacks coach. Rohn went 99-19 in nine seasons leading the West Catholic HS program.

Search Firms: Georgia Tech has hired Turnkey Search (Gene DeFelippo) to assist with its search for a new athletic director reports the AJC. Terms of the agreement were not made available. The AJC notes that Tech paid CarrSports $45,000 to assist with the search that hired Mike Bobinski three years ago (Bobinski just left to accept the same role at Purdue). Georgia Tech President Bud Peterson said he hopes to find a replacement for Bobinski within the next four months.

Strength Coaches: We have a new highest paid strength coach in college football.

Colorado: Matt Bryson, the quarterbacks coach at The Baylor School (TN), has joined the staff as a recruiting intern. Also, student assistant Cory Hall has been promoted to a recruiting intern role after two seasons with the program.

Duquesne (PA): Tony Papley, a defensive graduate assistant who works with the defensive line, has added the title of director of football operations.
