Florida: Sources tell us that Marshall head coach Doc Holliday is very much a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Florida. Holliday has served as head coach at Marshall for the past five seasons. From 2005-2007 he was on Urban Meyer’s staff at Florida serving as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. Holliday went on to join the staff at West Virginia where he served two years as associate head coach before being named head coach at Marshall following the 2009 season. Holliday won 10 games at Marshall last season and currently has his team 10-0.

Prairie View A&M (FCS – TX): Head coach Heishma Northern’s contract will not be renewed the school announced. Northern served as defensive coordinator for six seasons and has served as head coach the past four. Following a 5-5 record this season, athletic director Ashley Robinson decided to go in a different direction all the while touting all of the progress made under Northern’s leadership. “A national search will begin immediately.” Defensive backs coach Bubba McDowell will serve as interim.

Nicholls State (FCS – LA): Louisiana Lafayette secondary coach Tim Rebowe will be the new head coach at Nicholls State per a report from River Parish Football. Rebowe, who has been on staff at UL for the past ten years grew up in the area and will have a great plan to recruit locally.

North Texas: Defensive coordinator John Skladany has announced he will retire at season’s end.

Florida: ESPN’s Brett McMurphy tweeted this morning that sources told him that neither Rich Rodriguez nor Dan Mullen will be considered for the open head coaching position at Florida. – We have said all along (including yesterday) that Mullen and Foley had an issue and we didn’t see that happening; but Brett saying Rich Rod won’t be a candidate was fairly surprising. There was a purpose behind Brett’s tweet. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Alderson Broaddus (D-II – WV): Alderson Broaddus University has an immediate opening for a graduate intern defensive tackle coach. Candidates must have played defensive tackle at the college level or coached defensive tackles at the college level. Florida: Will Muschamp is stepping down as head coach at Florida per Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated. Muschamp will coach the final two games this season though. Here’s what you need to know. The statement from Florida was pure class. Handled a difficult decision very well in our opinion. Muschamp’s buyout will be paid out over four years.
