Tulane: Source tells FootballScoop former grad assistant (and quarterback) Jordy Joseph has been hired as offensive analyst.

Washington State: Western Kentucky assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Steve Spurrier, Jr., has been hired as outside receivers coach according to WBKO in Bowing Green, Ky.

Southeastern Louisiana: Source tells FootballScoop Frank Scelfo has hired Louie Cioffi to serve as his defensive coordinator at Southeastern. Cioffi most recently coached defensive backs for the Cleveland Browns in 2016. Cioffi has over 20 years coaching experience almost exclusively coaching defensive backs in the NFL (other than two seasons at CW Post University in the 90s).

Central Michigan: Former Nebraska tight ends coach Tavita Thompson is joining the Central Michigan staff in the same capacity source tells FootballScoop.

Baylor: Former Rice defensive line coach Frank Okam is joining the Baylor staff in the same capacity.

Boise State: We hear Boise State will be posting an opening for a football recruiting operations coordinator this week. Will be a full time, 12 month position as we understand. Bachelor’s degree and minimum one year collegiate recruiting or operations experience required. Stay tuned…

Detroit Lions: The Lions have hired Maine offensive coordinator Brian Picucci as offensive assistant. Maine head coach Joe Harasymiak plans to fill the position with an in-house candidate.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Former NFL linebacker Stephen Nicholas has been hired as a defensive quality control coach. He spent the past three seasons in the same role at South Florida.

Texas College (NAIA): Texas College is seeking an NAIA or D-III opponent for a home game either September 1 or September 8, 2018. Please contact coach Daniel Wilson at [email protected].

Northern Arizona (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop a number of moves have been made on the staff. Safeties coach Cody VonAppen has been promoted to secondary coach. Former NFL corner Jalil Brown has been hired as corners coach. Brown most recently was on staff at Boise State. Also, former Montana head coach Robin Pflugrad has been hired as the receivers coach. Pflugrad, whose son Aaron is offensive coordinator for the Lumberjacks, previously coached receivers at Montana, Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon and more.

Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs have hired Kyle “Alex” Whittingham as defensive assistant. The son of Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham, Alex just finished his playing career at Utah this past season.

North Carolina: North Carolina has a defensive line grad assistant position open.

Stephen F. Austin: We hear all positions have been filled. Expect official announcements next week.

ESPN: Play-by-play announcer Mike Patrick has announced his retirement after 36 years with the network. Patrick called ESPN’s “Sunday Night Football” NFL package from 1987-05 and worked college football games after the network lost NFL rights, most recently with Tommy Tuberville as his analyst.

Tennessee Titans: Former Texas State director of football operations John Streicher is now special assistant to the head coach of the Titans. Streicher and Vrabel worked together multiple years at Ohio State.

Oregon State: Montana State DFO Brittney Johnson will join the staff as assistant DFO, sources tell FootballScoop.

Tiffin (D-II – OH): Former Carthage (D-III – WI) head coach Mike Yeager is joining the staff as defensive coordinator, source tells FootballScoop.

Tennessee Titans: Tiffin (D-II – OH) defensive coordinator Matt Edwards is joining the Titans staff as a special teams assistant.

Purdue: Jeff Brohm has promoted special teams quallity control coach Kevin Wolthausen to the 10th assistant role for the Boilermakers where he will work with special teams and on the defensive side of the ball. Wolthausen coached the defensive line at Purdue in 2012 and has also served as the special teams coordinator / linebackers coach and defensive line coach during his time at UConn and also previously coached the special teams at FIU with stops at Louisville, Arizona, USC, Arizona State, and Oklahoma as well.

Shorter (D-II – GA): Shorter University is looking to fill a defensive graduate assistant position working with the defensive backs. Resumes and cover letters can be sent to [email protected].

Pacific Lutheran (D-III – WA): Trinity (D-III – TX) defensive coordinator Brant McAdams has been named head coach.

East Texas Baptist (D-III): Head coach Scott Highsmith has stepped down for family health reasons. The University has announced former Navarro College (JC – TX) head coach Brian Mayper as their new head coach. Mayper served as passing game coordinator at Brennan HS (TX) this past season, and as head coach of the Belgrade Wolves in Central Europe the 2016 season.

Miami Ohio: Grand Valley State (D-II – MI) defensive line coach EJ Whitlow has joined the Miami (OH) staff as defensive line coach.

Philadelphia Eagles: Duce Staley has added the assistant head coach title.

John Carroll (D-III – OH): John Carroll University is looking for a week 1 opponent in the 2020 and 2023 seasons. Would prefer to travel in 2020 and play at home in 2023. If interested please contact coach Jeff Long at [email protected].
