N.C. State: Athletics director Debbie Yow has signed a two-year contract extension (through July 2019) at $690,000 a year.
NCAA: The NCAA announced its Division I Football Oversight Committee, comprised of the following – Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby (chair), Miami AD Blake James, Colgate AD Vicky Chun, Big South commissioner Kyle Kallander, Arizona State AD Ray Anderson, Georgia head coach Mark Richt, MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher, Northern Arizona AD Lisa Campos, UCF AD Michael Todd Stansbury, Conference USA senior associate commissioner Alfred White, Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst and a to-be-determined student-athlete. Non-voting members include AFCA executive director Grant Teaff, Tennessee Tech AD Mark Wilson (FCS chair), Texas Tech faculty athletics rep Brian Shannon and an additional to-be-determined student-athlete.
Ole Miss: Ole Miss has extended AD Ross Bjork’s contract through 2019, the longest extension allowed by Mississippi state law. He’ll earn a $650,000 annual salary with up to $100,000 in bonuses.
Concordia (D-III – Chicago, IL): Concordia University Chicago has an opening for an entry level wide receiver coach. The position will pay a stipend in the Fall 2015. Graduate classes and housing will be added to the stipend beginning in the Spring Semester of 2016. Candidates must have collegiate playing experience at WR/QB or have coached WR’s at the high school level. Successful candidates must also be admissible to the graduate school programs at CUC (3.0 or higher GPA in your undergraduate classes), clear all universities background checks and have a valid driver’s license. Elmhurst (D-III – IL): Head coach Ron Planz has announced the promotions of Mike Heffernan and Kristopher Norton and a change of duties for assistant coach Nathan Bell. Heffernan is moving from OL coach / run game coordinator to offensive coordinator and Norton (who was a part-time assistant coaching the WRs last year) will now coach the quarterbacks and serve as pass game coordinator. Bell spent last season as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach and will coach the defensive line.
Missouri State: As we told you yesterday Missouri State wide receivers coach John Egorugwu has taken a position with the Baltimore Ravens, and Missouri State has now posted the job. Baltimore Ravens: Per source, Missouri State WRs coach John Egorugwu has accepted a position with the Ravens.
Missouri State: At Missouri State, we hear they plan to adjust the staff to fill Egorugwu’s receivers position and will be seeking to hire a tight ends / special teams coordinator. Lyons College (NAIA – AR): Derrick Lucas has joined the staff as running backs coach and will also oversee the kickers, punters, snappers, holders and returners. Lucas coached the running backs at Bethel (NAIA – KS) last season.
Tennessee State: Nick Davison has been promoted from grad assistant to defensive ends coach / recruiting coordinator.
Cal Poly: Head coach Tim Walsh has announced the addition of three coaches in Terrence Brown (assistant secondary), Dorian Keller (TEs), and James Emma (assistant LBs). Brown was a corner at Stanford from 2009-2012, Keller is a former University of San Diego wide receiver, and Emma spent the last two years as an assistant defensive line coach at Cal Lutheran.
Tennessee: The University of Tennessee is seeking to fill a quality control position working with the receivers. Lock Haven (D-II – PA): Lock Haven has hired Urbana (D-II – OH) head coach Dave Taynor as their new head coach. Taynor led the Urbana program from NAIA to D-II and he is the winningest coach in Urbana history.
Northwestern: Per source, Northwestern has added a number of recruiting assistants to their staff, including former Southern University tight ends coach Justin Poindexter, former Alabama recruiting assistant Steven Pursley and former Towson assistant recruiting coordinator Steve Schrum.
Virginia State (D-II): Virginia State, a HBCU and member of the CIAA conference, is in search of two graduate assistants. One position on offense and one position on defense. Tennessee: Pass game coordinator / wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni and running backs / recruiting coordinator coach Robert Gillespie have both received $50,000 raises as part of their new deals, taking their annual salaries to $355,000 per the Knoxville News Sentinel. New offensive coordinator Mike DeBord signed a two-year deal worth $500,000 per year. The rest of the salaries are as follows; DC John Jancek ($520,000), LBs coach Tommy Thigpen ($405,000), DBs coach Willie Martinez ($380,000), DL coach Steve Stripling ($410,000), TEs coach Mark Elder ($245,000), and OL coach Don Mahoney ($365,000). In all, the returning eight members of the coaching staff received $250,000 in pay increases.
Hiram (D-III – OH): Hiram has an opening for a volunteer assistant defensive back coach. The position has no stipend or benefits. This position will assist the head coach in all facets of the sports program including, but not limited to; helping coach the safeties and corners, and the development and implementation of individual fundamental skills. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; strong managerial, administrative, interpersonal skills; and computer proficiency. Oregon State: Gary Andersen’s salary pool for his assistant coaches is about $2.64 million, according to The Oregonian. That figure is up from $2.35 million from the previous staff. All assistants received multi-year deals, and all but Kevin McGiven (who was Utah State’s offensive coordinator last year) will make more than they did in 2014. Assistant coaches salaries are as follows; Gary Andersen (6 year deal starting at $2.45 million increasing to $2.95 million in 2020), associate HC / DC Kalani Sitake ($730,008), OC Dave Baldwin ($435,000), OL coach TJ Woods ($260,000), DL coach Chad Kauha’aha’a ($250,008), LBs coach Ilaisa Tuiaki ($250,008), QBs coach Kevin McGiven ($185,004), WRs coach Brent Brennan ($185,264), DBs coach Derrick Odum ($180,000), RBs coach Telly Lockette ($170,004). Michigan State: After over 30 seasons with the Spartans, head equipment coordinator Bob Knickerbocker has decided to retire. Knickerbocker held his position since 1983, and worked under six different head coaches.
Midland University (NAIA – NE): Midland University is seeking applicants for student-assistant coaching positions. These positions are intended for individuals who are trying to finish up their undergraduate education. Individuals will receive a scholarship package covering a percentage of tuition, room, and board. Previous football coaching or playing experience is a plus but not required.
